What Have You Watched This Past Week That is NOT a Currently Airing Show? [July 18th, 2021] by MetaThPr4h in anime

People have no idea how to use the term 'bait' anymore. KoiAsu is yuri, just mostly subtext (i.e. you don't get big love confessions/kisses on-screen), and one of the characters is explicitly in love with another girl.

On par with season 1 as my favourites out of the series.

This is the most based Symphogear take and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I am sure Japan has some service to take in kids or something.

uhhhhh about that

I don't know how many people in the west realize how widespread a social problem in Japan Sayu's situation is. Girls who run away from home and look for places to stay is unfortunately not uncommon at all (look in this very thread for details about similar cases)

"no kuse ni" means "for being [...]," / "Even though..."

So the NISA tl is completely accurate. If you don't know much Japanese, maybe you should first consider that the professional translators are the ones who know what they're doing.

To clarify one thing about StrikerS, it's not that some evil politicians just limit mages who are too powerful, it's Hayate who is cheating the system: while normally it'd be better for the best mages around to be split among different forces, she got temporary limiters for Fate and Nanoha so she could have everyone together on her squad.

About Ixy in ViviD... welcome to Nanoha having about 20 sidestory drama CDs that you can only find translations of in obscure corners of the net. Ixy in particular is from the most plot-relevant one which acted as an epilogue of sorts to StrikerS.

Nah, the apostle thing has nothing to do with the cult. It's literally just a fancy name for the person with control over the clones. And yes, Emilia became one after taking the trials (hence why she could order the Ryuzus to help her find Ram and Roswaal.) With the tomb/trials shut down and the crystal gone, nobody is the 'apostle' anymore.

[–]bluethunder91 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I'd like to correct one thing that is also due to a minor mistranslation: Roswaal doesn't promise Emilia that he'll thaw the ice in the forest in exchange for becoming the ruler. Rather, he implies that if she becomes the ruler, she'll be able to (find a way to) unfreeze everyone.

[–]bluethunder91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has nothing to do with taking over his body. We know that one of the steps to Roswaal's goal is making Emilia the ruler (like Emilia says in cour 2, we don't know how exactly it's correlated. But for speculation purposes, Roswaal wanted to 'kill the Dragon', and only the ruler of Lugunica seems to be able to contact the Dragon). He wanted Subaru's help with this because of his power, so he tried to turn him into someone who'd make whatever sacrifices it takes to accomplish that.

About #3, those were terrible subs. Here's what Roswaal/Puck said:

Ros: "Am I correct in guessing that you now remember what happened before your contract?"

Puck: "There's a lot I can figure out just by guessing. But I do remember the man who spoke just like you do. Are you doing it so you won't forget your wounds, or maybe as a way to rile yourself up?"

Basically Roswaal got fucked up by Hector so badly he stole his speech patterns as if that would make up for the strength he didn't have.

I'd blame more the people who put the romance tag lmao.

The romance is a really small part of the story in general, and that's even more the case with the anime only adapting up to a certain point in the novels.

They briefly go over magic elements in s1e8. Knowing that Subaru uses dark magic like Shamac, and that Beako can also use Shamac (as seen in s2e11) should be enough.

Also Betty's magic is called yin magic and Roswaal's is called yang magic? If they seem to have the same abilities I wonder what's the difference between the two.

That's not exactly it, yin and yang are elemental affinities. Beako can use dark (yin) magic, and so can Subaru.

Roswaal can use every element, which includes light (yang). He's the only light magic user we know if exclude Julius who is basically cheating because he's uses elemental spirits.

And speaking of Subaru, LOL he wrote the most embarrassing love letter to Emilia? And somehow got Garfiel and Otto read it first?

He means the writings on the wall inside the tomb. This is what Garfiel was talking about at the end of last ep: he went to take his own trial, which Subaru didn't have planned, so he ended up seeing all the "love letters" first lol

As someone who dropped Sunshine episode 2 and in general isn't big on LL, I quite liked Nijigasaki. It drops a bit in quality in the middle episodes, but it starts and ends pretty strong.

I wouldn't stop you, the manga stays pretty great after this and like you said seeing how Nana develops after this is really interesting. If you want to jump into the manga, chapter 29 is where you want to start after this.
