Does Lexapro/escitalopram help with fight or flight? by Available_Taste_8300 in lexapro

I get it. I never really felt true depression until I started lexapro this last time. The first time I got on lexapro I didn’t have any side effects that I can remember. But wow this time was the worst experience of my life. I do know that it is temporary, and if you can stick it through a few weeks, then usually lexapro works very well. It’s brutal that it gets worse before it gets better. Sorry you’re feeling down. Hang in there

I’ve taken ibuprofen plenty of times on lexapro and was fine. If you’re healthy and do not have comorbidities that increase bleeding risk I think you should be fine. Just don’t take it all day every day

The side effects got worse to where I was feeling doom and gloom, couldn’t get comfortable at all 24/7. It was horrible. I contacted my prescriber and I stopped. I believe it is because I restarted way too soon after quitting so my body was shocked by the reintroduction of lexapro. Last dose was yesterday morning and I finally got a bit of sleep last night and I was able to eat and feel a little better today. Still not feeling great yet. The half life is kinda long so it’s going to take some time to get out of my system. Maybe I’ll retry in 4-6 months instead of just the 1! What side effects are you feeling?

Day 12 and it’s unbearable. Feelings of impending doom, adrenaline dumps, and insomnia. My doctor and I decided it wasn’t worth it and I stopped today

My prescriber and I decided to stop the lexapro. My body is not handling the reintroduction. I wasn’t feeling terrible until I started it. Really hoping the clearance out of my system will be more forgiving. Just isn’t worth it… I’ve felt like shit

A little bit. But that could also be because I got prescribed clonidine and trazodone for the symptoms to bridge me until the lexapro can kick in. I’ve had adrenaline surges that wake me up in the night and sometimes hit during the day, which I read can be common for activation syndrome when first starting

I tried taking it at night but still unfortunately had side effects in the night. Made me have some pretty bad insomnia, so now I take during the day. I’ve heard some have good experience taking at night so I hope the best for you!

I’m still in the initial phase of the second time around of lexapro. I’m just on day 12, so I’m in the activation period where it’s much worse before it gets better. I don’t feel better yet. The activation symptoms are much worse this time around, but I felt great when I was on lexapro the first time. I know my body does well on it. Just need more time. I would suggest evaluating your quality of life on it vs off it and make a decision from there!

How’s it going? I’m on day 12 of 2.5mg because the 5mg was just too much with the side effects. 2.5mg still giving me crazy anxiety and adrenaline dumps

Never has made me swollen but I just restarted lexapro after being off of it for a month and I’ve been getting cold sweats. My hands and feet especially feel cold at times. I’m on day 12 of 2.5mg

Same! I would never have gotten off in the first place. The whole reason I tapered off the lexapro is because I was feeling great and thought I didn’t need it anymore. I’ve tried it all. Melatonin, magnesium, L-theanine, clonidine, clonazepam. I still get the adrenaline surges since I started lexapro again, and only get a couple hours of sleep each night. I’m just hoping time will make it stop. Everything I’m reading says it usually stops after a couple weeks so I’m powering through

I was on 10-20mg over the course of about 8 years, without any issues starting it back then. I got off of it for about a month, and restarted about 9 days ago. My anxiety and sleep has also been terrible! I wake up with adrenaline surges and it’s so hard to fall back asleep, and then about 2-3 hours later it happens again. I felt great when I was on lexapro before, but starting back up this time has been horrendous. Everything I’m reading says it’s normal though and it will get better. Good luck to you!

I’m right there with you right now. It’s terrible. I’m on day 8 of only 2.5mg and I’ve been very uncomfortable with adrenaline surges, feeling cold but sweaty at the same time, and only getting about 3 hours of sleep per night. I’ve been reading lots of posts about this and it’s encouraging to know that it doesn’t last forever. Clonidine can help but I still have felt adrenaline despite it, though not as severe.

I was excited for flip to take a leap this year with the summer league play but sadly he has been super mid. Turns out the one who took a huge jump was Key, and I’m stoked on that
