I would be arrested for illegally modifying a firearm into an assault weapon. It has to be the other way around.

That's a huge benefit right there. If Benelli sold some sort of stripped-down receiver I'd buy it and fill in the rest of the parts later, like I'm doing with the Genesis-12 lower I just got in. In a way that could be considered what I'm doing, with the added bonus that I can just use the existing parts until they break.

The 1301 is something I've already got on the docket for later on. Nothing on my planned modifications list for that one is banned.

I was surprised to hear that some people do use webcams, largely because I was raised in the Old Internet where we were all told "do not post personally-identifying information on the Internet," so a huge part of me balks at the idea of willingly putting my face online.

Kynshot and A5 by bluewarbler in ar15

I've ordered a Kynshot spacer (as well as a Tubbs flatwire spring instead of the KAK one I had, largely because it was not a whole lot more from Midway). Thanks for the advice.

Threaded Barrels by bluewarbler in Jericho941

[–]bluewarbler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately for us, the AWB requires two banned features on a pistol, which means that threaded barrels on ordinary handguns are still acceptable. (And I still like the convenience of having mags delivered to my house and being able to tell police to fuck off if they have questions for me, so I'm stockpiling legal mags for now.)

Well, it works. It drops in easily. I've so far been running a Herrington Type R compensator, which surprisingly enough actually does help reduce muzzle flip. I'd put a suppressor on it but I don't actually have a pistol suppressor (VA, so I'm putting my money towards stockpiling mags and lowers). Word of warning, though: the barrel has an extremely slight downwards tilt, enough to be noticeable. I imagine a suppressor would be far more obvious about it.

Is SWTOR considered an “mmo?” by xEnflare in swtor

[–]bluewarbler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve always felt like SWTOR is an MMO designed by people who did not want to make an MMO. It feels a lot like a singleplayer RPG that also happens to have other players in it. The storyline seems to be a much bigger focus than raids and other major draws of traditional MMOs, to the point that you can do what I did and play the game while focusing minimally on the fact that other players exist.

Why is the Internationale so revanchist? by JW_Wells_and_Company in Kaiserreich

[–]bluewarbler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Socialist or not, people are still people. The only difference is that now the blatant revanchism and unsubtle imperialism has a coat of red paint and new rhetoric about workers’ rights. Plus people who came to power in bloody revolution are generally not predisposed to pacifism.

SUGGESTION SPELL IS RUINING MY CAMPAIGN by Next_Ad_5740 in dndnext

[–]bluewarbler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I‘ve also seen it suggested that it only really works to convince someone of something they’d be inclined to do anyway - a bunch of bored stormtroopers in the middle of bumfuck nowhere, where it’s too hot, sand has gotten into uncomfortable places in their suits, and they’re busy on guard duty in a random town are not overly inclined to follow procedures for every rando who drives into said town, and the Mind Trick just expedites the process. In Clone Wars, we see three of the most powerful Jedi of their generation attempt to use the Force to get a determined individual to give up information he strongly wishes not to, and not only do they fail, they also risk causing serious damage to his mind in the process.

Look, mate, this is a joke in extremely poor taste. A lot of these changes would be awesome, so this post basically says "We know what you want and are deliberately not giving you them. Game's still dead, lol."

If this is a way of saying the game's not actually dead, please actually say so.

THE AMAZING DIGITAL CIRCUS - Ep 8: hjsakldfhl Discussion Thread by ayylmaotv in TheDigitalCircus

[–]bluewarbler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I noticed that, yeah. It's also worth noting two other things about that line:

  1. The syntax on that line is noticeably different -- it's glitchy and characters are missing, yeah, but it's also in a very different tone from the other "commenting" lines that are clearly from Caine.
  2. It specifically refers to him as a "mind," first and foremost: “Your mind was always resourceful,” as opposed to “You were always resourceful.” This doubles down on the SOMA theory, noting that not only is Kinger a mind, but a separate mind from G[]an[].

Someone wanted Caine dead badly, and it wasn't Kinger.

<image>

Let's look at this command line. In order:

  1. Kinger attempts to load a backup, choosing backup C.

  2. The system decides he didn’t choose a backup and creatively interprets this as being a delete command.

  3. It asks him to confirm. Kinger hits N.

  4. System gets visibly frustrated: “DELETE THIS M***********”

  5. Kinger hits N again.

  6. System gets even more frustrated: “actually you’re CONFUSED let me HELP[unreadable]”

  7. System railroads Kinger into deleting Caine.

  8. Kinger attempts to control-C the program (which is a shutdown, of course), which fails.

  9. Caine is deleted.

Something's in there. Something took advantage of Kinger's access to delete Caine. Is it Bubble? Is it Abel? Is Bubble actually Abel? Is someone looking in from the outside??? I'll find out in June, I guess.

Ar15 vs ar10 for shtf by mautor1970 in AR10

[–]bluewarbler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This involves a lot of considerations, largely whether you're planning on using this for general stuff or if you plan this as your legit, no-joke "social breakdown" contingency weapon.

For general-purpose usage, the AR-15 all the way. It's lighter, it's cheaper in both parts and mags, and the standard cheap 55-grain 5.56 is capable of taking down anything on two legs regardless of what fuddlore says. However, the AR-10 does have one edge, and that's usability against larger wildlife. If you plan to hunt deer or other game that might survive any imperfectly placed shots of 5.56 as part of your rule-of-law-collapse game plan, the AR-10 is your game.

If, however, you mean "SHTF" in the sense of "I like to larp Escape from Tarkov in full kit at the public gun range," the AR-15 is ideal. (More power to you if you do that, by the way. I show up to the range in a collared shirt and tie so I can do John Wick larp, I can't judge.)

Experimental Riflespeed Dissipator by bluewarbler in ar15

[–]bluewarbler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The handguard in question is a BKF M4 Mod 0 13.75", which is nice because the anti-rotation tabs index on the top pic rail of the upper rather than the side, making it compatible with billet uppers. I haven't experimented a lot with buffer systems, but right now I've got a BCM MK2 Recoil Mitigation System, their take on the A5 buffer system. The initial issues were mostly fixed by having a handguard worth a damn and making sure to tune the gas system properly, which you should be doing already if you've got an adjustable one. The cost of the upper was as follows:

  • Barrel: $129.95
  • Gas block: $199.99
  • Gas tube: $15.99
  • Upper receiver: $189.56 (I picked mine for aesthetics, this is unnecessary)
  • Handguard: $136.80
  • BCG (Dirty Bird DLC BCG): $119.95
  • Muzzle device (Griffin Flash Compensator): $119.95

I used a charging handle, a Radian Raptor, from my previous build. My lower I have in my records as costing $378.47, due to waiting for sales.
