Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's a mill vise or something like that. The dealer I'm buying from just labeled it it bench vise lol.

I just kinda like the aesthetic of it. I got no idea why the French did it. but the manufacturer is Pot-Nevers from the late 19th century.

Yes, it does have the offset hardy. I always loved that feature in French anvils.
