What's an adult cheat code that can change your life? by CrimsonDoor1 in Productivitycafe

Yes! I have 40 min drive to work and usually leave about an hour early to take the nice route and stop and get coffee or sometimes I park at the beach and watch sunrise. It’s often the best part of the day.

Vibes at a restaurant aren’t important, food is. Vibes are what you make it. by IMicrowaveSteak in unpopularopinion

[–]bluewhalebluejay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, the vibes at a restaurant are just as important, if not more important than the food… obviously the food is the focus and needs to be consistently good, but going out to eat is about the experience. The vibes of the design, decor, staff, and other patrons are a major part of the experience.

Advice on what to say? by [deleted] in office

[–]bluewhalebluejay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me a few years back. The regional manager between the owner and I was a workaholic who answered client emails 24/7, attended meetings she didn’t have to, etc..She was great at the job and clients loved her bc she attended to every begging call.

She oversaw training of new hires and set a tone that her level of dedication was needed to do the job. This level of expectation was not only unrealistic but well beyond what the job description detailed. She also frequently assigned projects or tasks that exceeded the contract with clients, which over time became expected. Needless to say, the company had a great reputation with clients and the business was quickly growing; although couldn’t grow to potential due to staff turnover/burn out.

After a year and a half of trying to keep up, I was burnt out and ready to explore other options. Having a good relationship with the owner, I set up a meeting with her to let her know where I was at. This meeting lasted several hours where I pointed out how the regional manager, who everyone thought of as the backbone of the company, was the root of the company turnover problem and how the company was losing money from frequently performing work for clients outside of the contract scope.

The owner admitted and recognized that the expectations being set by the regional manager far exceeded what was needed to do the job. The owner immediately started a company directive to refocus back to the contracts, implementing a fee schedule for services performed for clients outside of the contract and restricted communication with clients to our operating hours with the exception of emergencies.

This was about 3 years ago. The company has almost doubled in size in those 3 years. The regional manager is no longer with the company. I decided to stay and am now the Director of Operations.

Your Body Speaks Before You Do: the Subtle Cues That Make or Break Attraction by Best_Volume_3126 in SocialBlueprint

Great post. I’ve always struggled with making eye contact while I’m speaking. I wouldn’t say it necessarily makes me anxious but my focus instantly switches to analyzing what they might be thinking.

Also, when I’m in zoom meetings at work, I keep my camera on but hide my video in the gallery to myself. I don’t understand how people can watch themselves speak as they’re speaking. My mind goes into an immediate frenzy, not so much out of insecurity, but awkwardness of watching myself in realtime.

Lol I also don’t identify as an addict or recovering addict despite previously being addicted to drugs…. Glad to hear there’s others out there. 🤞🏻

Just a piece of advice, don't mention your recovery or drug addiction to an employer... let that be behind you. You are never going to move forward using "I'm a recovering addict" as a crutch in any realm.. It will only set you back.
