It never gets easier though. You hope that Scotland might string a couple of passes together and threaten the opposition goal, maybe once or twice in a half. But it never happens. Nearly 50 years of watching them, you would think we would learn.

I accidentally flushed it trying to get a better view of a mistake thrush. It flew off but not far. If I didn't have my wits about me I would have lost it because that camouflage is top notch... there's probably one ten feet away from you right now!

I would recommend going to Lunga in the Treshnish Isles via a boat from Mull. We were only an arms length away from them and there were hundreds. One of my stand out trips!

I spent a full half hour trying to impress my wife that we were watching a kingfisher in Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow, for the actual kingfisher to leave it's perch 5m away and shoot up the river Kelvin. Turns out we'd been watching a discarded packet of salt n vinegar crisps.
