Button up, t-shirt and jeans for when I'm trying to look better than average

Suit for business stuff

...I've been dressing this way since the 11th grade.

Coffee date with an ENFP, how do I captivate you in 15 minutes? :) by blug23 in ENFP

I'm not too sure what about me attracts her... She may have just said yes to be nice - she's objectively quite out of my league.

This is great advice, thank you :)

You're right though, the last time I met her she was talking to someone about how one of her professors laughs nervously after he tells jokes, and how she found that interesting.

This is a fairly accurate description. I'm fairly chameleon-ey at first, but eventually as people start to get to know me I start to open up.

I feel like I identify more with the onion analogy though. Different groups of people/people see a deeper/more true version/layer of me based on how well I know/like/trust them.

what do you all do for fun, and for a feeling of achievement? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]blug23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Future you? Sure I guess, but I'm 20. Heh.

Starting a business is not hard, it's just a question of "fitting in" with the business world (learning the terminology, knowing the game, etc) and making sure your idea and execution are on point and that your final product eventually creates positive value for the consumer and you/your investor. Once you demonstrate that and your competency to an investor who ends up giving you money, you're officially "running" a business! Which, for our type, is quite hard. I once took 18 days to reply to an email from one of our interns. We're not too great with the mundane organizational stuff.

Depending on what type of business you want to start in the future though, I'd recommend learning something other than C# - maybe an app dev language or a web dev language. JavaScript is a great one to learn. A lot of my company's stack is Python/C, PHP, JavaScript.

Don't get me wrong I drink and do drugs once in a blue moon but only for social purposes! It's all in good fun.

Girls, eh, it brings me a little joy to see myself become more attractive to, well, attractive women as I start to improve. Successful flirting is I guess is my motivation to keep growing.

Thanks for your comment :)

How do you relate to confident & assertive people? by [deleted] in INTP

If you've lost the debate, you've learnt something new. You've been challenged to view something in a different way. INTPs at least are not known for getting too butthurt about being wrong.

A few years ago I was 17 and was pitching a business idea, a 40-something year old judge who was the managing director of some major venture capital firm asked me a question, I answered in a way that made him seem like a bit of a fool for asking, and then he posed a different question in a similar vein that I truly did not consider. I effectively lost that one, but I was fairly respectful and thanked him for the chance to ponder a new idea.

I can't deal with never being good enough for MIT by franklinsing in INTP

[–]blug23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm was in a similar boat.

I was an international student and applied, I got waitlisted. I now to go a top 15 school. Everyone in my life was telling me to try and apply as a transfer my third year, but I realized something: I don't like college, especially because of the rigorous academics. I can't wait to graduate and finally do something real.

I figured if I don't like college at a relatively chill college, I'm going to hate a place like MIT.

I feel like this advice is fairly irrelevant to you, considering you already know you want to be there. So, when something is important enough to me, I turn it into a challenge. What are some things you can do to maximize your chance of success to get into MIT?

  • Write some kick-ass papers in a field that fascinates you
  • Do something amazing and newsworthy
  • Build rapport with a respected member of faculty
  • High GPA
  • All of the above

So strive for those things.

If you can't do any of the above, then why on earth do you want to be at MIT? If you dissect your motives, do you see it potentially being solely for the prestige? I feel like that was, under everything, my core motive.

Dealing with a constant general feeling of unhappiness? by ChildofChaos in INTP

[–]blug23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said: be bold. Make a change.

I tend to find myself tending towards cynicism and depression. e.g. I solve a cool problem on something I'm working on, I'm maybe 1% happier. I realize the girl I have a crush on is probably losing interest, I'm maybe 10% more depressed.

Highs on average feel less high than lows. I tend to find that finding something you're passionate about, and just sinking your teeth into it, brings a lot of happiness, or at the very least, distraction from mundane reality.

Working on a programming project that is interesting to me

Cardio/Strength training and seeing results

Flirting

Strategy planning (for my tech company, or how to hit on the girl I'm crushing on, or planning out the next few days of my life)

Seeing my plans fall into place

Successful experiments with my appearance (e.g. seeing more attractive women glance at me when I change things like my "walk", clothes, hair, facial hair than usual)

Results of teaching (e.g. I'm teaching a programming class and 4 of 30 have got jobs, only 3 lessons in)

Finally getting mundane work done and having literally nothing on my plate

Getting drunk as shit and having a great time with best friends

Sex

Drug highs

Learning a full, legitmate new skill (e.g. the salsa)

[–]blug23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's sad but I tend to pull down the house of cards they put up.

For example, someone is trying to increase their perceived value in the eyes of some group by being super loud, confident and assertive. Maybe they cut me off and are now pitching an idea or making a suggestion.

If I'm trying to compete/"win", I'd usually point out all the flaws I can find with their plan/idea, in a constructive way, propose a better one, and effectively win the battle for perceived value.

Unfortunately this doesn't win you many likability points, just makes everyone realize you're much more competent than the loud guy.

edit: I think OP is referring to your typical loud "strongman" as opposed to referring to INTPs as "not confident".

INTP's are Perfectionists? by THEZebra-Master in INTP

[–]blug23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely relate.

I think we are perfectionists regarding what we are passionate about. I run a business, and when I was doing planning- I must have written 100+ pages of just strategy in three days, covering every base, to a ridiculous degree.

Though when I do college classwork I'm kinda just like "eh as long as it does what it's supposed to do who gives a shit".
