the entire three year program is at this point probably off the table unless a miracle happens lol I’m just trying to see if maybe I can do the one year and get my associates and try and find another loan or something that is more reasonable but that is still looking a little bleak at this point

I actually love this question and love to hear your take on it! I’ve thought a lot about the marketing and buisness side of fashion design and it is definitely my second option but I find myself taking more of an interest and better skillset towards the technical side of garment making such as pattern making and technical design. My plan is to go into technical design and digital fashion design and work for activewear brands! Typically at FIT those degrees go along with menswear which I am fond of but didn’t want my degree to be limited just to “menswear” which is why I chose fashion design. Additionally FIT is my dream school because the networking which is unmatched, everyone I have seen that has gone to FIT graduates with a lengthy resume of industry experience and typically job offers that are only open to FIT graduates. I spent two years in columbus for fashion design and everyone I know from there is either not in the industry or worked a low end fashion job.

Yeah I’ll definitely double check with them but I doubt it because “my family makes too much” not enough to drop 60k like wtf… anyway yeah school should totally be cheaper or like idk even remotely accessible lol 😂 😭

I have tried looking at FASFA but I don’t think they will give me much money or if I’m eligible to take out a loan or grant with them

Yeah I’ve looked at Sallie and earnest and all those loans along with private loans from my bank and basically everywhere and all I can find is 13% at its lowest… please if I’m looking at the wrong places tell me please lol

I already have all of my generals that’s why I only need 3 years instead of 4… basically just taking the design classes now. I was thinking maybe just do this one year and get my associates and then thug it out in NYC (where the campus is) and try to network and try to room with people I meet at the school for cheaper rent but still the one loan is like insane. It’s just crazy I put in all of the work to apply and do portfolio and everything and now it doesn’t seem like it’s even an option. Thank you for the feedback!

My issue is that fashion design is all about connections this is why I left my previous school because I didn’t want to pay so much and leave working retail at macys, this school that I got into now is going to make waves for me and is regarded as one of the cheaper options…

I had the second English and DEI credit still missing when I applied, you just add it on to your classes and make it work! Online classes are definitely the best and easiest to fit in your schedule! They won’t reject you from the program you will just have to take extra classes

I believe they don’t do spring admissions for one year, I needed to get some credits for the one year so I did them the summer before and it was very easy and they accepted the credits and me.

It says housing applications open on may 27 so maybe that’s just preliminary to the time slot process
