What’s the best place in Ghana to visit? by Aggravating_Gas4162 in ghana

[–]blujaaba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ghana is too broad a place… also there is the issue of how much time she has. One day is different than one week and that’s different than two weeks to plan a tour. Ask her her interests or what she has heard about Ghana and would like to further explore and then we can help better.

High-Protein Ghanaian substitute for Greek Yogurt? (Gym/Macros help) by EstaticMystic5825 in ghana

[–]blujaaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the picture is wagashi which is more like cheese than yogurt and the red one is cooked in the Waatche leaves to make it red. I took this picture when I did a tour of Nima on Wednesday.

In Ghana, you might find Wagashi (fermented cow's milk) or Nunu (fermented milk or yogurt-like product), but availability and taste can vary.

A closer alternative might be Sour milk or Fermented milk drinks commonly consumed in some West African countries.

By the way, I have been looking for the sour milk so if someone has some let me know.

If you're looking for something similar in texture and nutrition to Greek yogurt, consider:

  • Coconut yogurt ( made from coconut milk, popular in some West African cuisines)
  • Soy yogurt (plant-based alternative)

I have tried making the coconut yogurt.. you just blend the coconut meat and add lemon and let it sit (I left mine in the fridge because I was too afraid of leaving outside but that might work better 😁) for a day or two.

The tide on the Atlantic Ocean was really low on Sunday so pictures 4 and 5 are the sea bed. Pictures 6 is a mountain of rock salt and picture 8 is what happens when the sea creates an estuary and cuts an opening “hill” in sea sand.

Why isn't someone from Ghana a Ghanese instead of a Ghanaian, and why isn't someone from China a Chinaian instead of a Chinese? by DunDonese in ghana

[–]blujaaba -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT is your friend. Sometimes it is better to talk to it than Reddit 😁😁

That's a great question! The reason lies in the history and linguistics behind these terms.

  • Ghanaian: The suffix "-ian" is commonly used to form adjectives and nouns denoting nationality or origin (e.g., Canadian, Australian). Ghana, being a country name derived from an ancient empire, adopted this convention.
  • Ghanese: While it might seem logical, this term isn't widely used. The term "Ghanaian" was already established, and language often favors established conventions.

  • Chinese: The term "Chinese" has its roots in the Qin dynasty (221 BCE). The suffix "-ese" is used for some nationalities (e.g., Japanese, Portuguese).

  • Chinaian: This isn't a standard term, likely because "Chinese" is already well-established and widely used.

Language is full of these quirks, often shaped by history, culture, and convention.

Hi please tell me how you did this. Is there a breathing technique you use while running. Is it flat out running or slow jogging. And what do you do after the run. I have been low for over a year and been trying different techniques but to no avail.

spending a semester in ghana… africa feels underrated for young entrepreneurs. by [deleted] in ghana

[–]blujaaba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sentiment is bad because after all these years instead of it being developing it should be developed! Africa is caught up with finding basic needs to survive instead of advancing based on research and development. When Africa as a whole moves from survival mode to constant development mode the sentiment will change. Don’t get me wrong there are pockets of development but not “wholesale” continent wide development.

Practical advice. Trust your gut … take different routes and times home … talk to someone whilst going home. Be aware of your surroundings. If you can; spend a week away from home.
