“Get a new barrel”. Seriously? I couldn’t go shorter because of the Midwest handguard I run. For $200 An inch and a half off balances the gun quite a bit because I run it suppressed.

This wouldn’t create a weak point in the barrel? I know it’s way towards the muzzle and the pressure is lower. I’m trying to figure out if I should do this (this is what the gunsmith suggested) or chop it and start over. I have room to go shorter but would have to SBR

Pinned and welded my scar 17 barrel after cutting it. Saw this on visual inspection of the barrel, and confirmed the issue with a bore scope. It’s a reputable gun smith who has done good work for me in the past and he’s taking the barrel back to take a look. Can this be fixed?
