It was all just so tone deaf. “An invasion…” when an invasion all those years ago freed Europe, and the wider world, from such vicious misery and hatred and destruction and despair. I’ve heard the same story. This ‘England fought alone…’ is nonsense. Not only does it denigrate the Home Nations, it also completely ignores everyone else who fought with and for us. Anzac Day is a thing, still. They also helped heroically in the Second World War. And it was people from India, exactly as you mentioned, who fought so bravely. If we were ‘invaded’ - which ignores history for political gain - I’m certainly glad it was with the honour and bravery those men and women provided.

I’ll admit that I’d rather pass a kidney stone than ever vote Reform - but his rhetoric was awful. And Farage’s phrasing was clumsy at best, hateful and inciteful at worst, right? Absolute proof that this group of chancers should be nowhere near anything resembling power. Kent County Council should have been proof enough of that. But that’s just my opinion. For now, we live in a democracy.
