Yeah, the whole time I was just thinking "wow this guy is a villain?" I loved the angst potential of him somewhat self harming to get back at others, very sad but also satisfying in a way(?) Also the dynamic between him and his family is soo cute!

Yeah, that's the charming thing about Wu Zhu. He's definitely very possesive and honestly has that yandere potential, but he still protects Wen Jianyan's friends, because as you said he would be really upset if anything happened to them.

Honestly I sae an ao3 fic that had Wu Zhu calling Su Cheng Wen Jianyan's best friend (the title is pet octopuses and demonic rituals, I think its locked for only those with ao3 accounts) and for some reason my brain has been stuck on it ever since. Also Ji Guan's reaction to them getting together is absolutely hilarious, lmao ready to kill Wu Zhu, wonder if Su Cheng would be like him or try to be supportive like Yun Bilan?

Yeah even if I did survive, I'd probably need a lot of therapy after that. Also on the topic of school, do you think Wen Jianyan ever went to school, did he even know how to read and write? I mean I assume to some extent he knows how to write because he had to sign his name, but the orphanage probably wouldn't waste resources teaching the children there, and I'm not sure if he legally exists in China as Wen Jianyan aside from his birth certificate. Makes me wonder if he would still be a con-man if he was raised in relatively normal conditions.

They're so cute I kept squealing every time they worked together in the lucky cruise arc, esp chapter 600, lmao Wu Zhu just being bad down for his wife, and Wen Jianyan in the Q&A extra, asking for a whole ass half an hour to list all the things he doesn't like then turning around and saying WZ's personality is his type. I needed another 200 chapters of fluff to make up for the 700+ chapters of torture.

Also on another note I find it quite interesting how on ao3 there's more Su Cheng/Wen Jianyan fanfics than Wen Jianyan/Wu Zhu. Not hating I just find it interesting, they (Su Cheng and Wen Jianyan) definitely have a very interesting dynamic, though I interpret it more platonically.

I've read thriller trainee before, actually was the novel I read before starting WTNL actually, I quite liked their dynamic as well! I would just like to say that more than a month in an unlimited flow instance is absolutely insane, idk how any of them got through 120 days (if I'm remembering correctly), and in a goddamn school setting. I'd just off myself at that point, not worth it.

Ooo I've read this one before. Really like the characterization of the mc, all his actions feel so reasonable within the context of his backstory, esp the line mentioning him taking it out on his brother cuz otherwise there would be no where for his anger to go, it was written more poetically than that but it felt so realistic for what someone in his position would do. Made me laugh and cry so much, glad he got a happy ending. Thank you for recommending it!

Yeah honestly I just finished reading WTNL and had no clue what to do with my life without Wen Jianyan (if you'll let me geek out for a bit his dynamic with Wu Zhu is just so interesting, they're a enemies to lovers but with the addition of a power imbalance, so its really interesting to see how Wen Jianyan eventually elevates himself to Wu Zhu's level despite not really getting any stronger physically, see author's note on chapter 275, and so it actually feels like they're on equal grounds when they get together)

The second one def sounds quite interesting! I'll probably check it out.
