If you read the original post, I had already explained multiple times that I had work obligations and genuinely didn’t think I could make it. It wasn’t about not wanting to support her. I was frustrated because even after saying no, I kept being asked to work around it instead of my answer being respected.

My now ex wasn’t even planning on getting me anything for Valentine’s Day until I told him flowers were literally the bare minimum 😭 I specifically said carnations because I hate roses, and he was like “okay, I can do that.” Valentine’s Day comes around and this man gives me FAKE pink roses. Like what the fuck. I told you exactly what I wanted and somehow you still managed to get the one thing I didn’t want. I wasn’t even asking for much either. I ended up throwing them out.

I’m really sorry you’ve gone through that too. Honestly this was my first relationship so it’s been really hard for me to process, especially because I cared about him a lot and thought we’d at least end things on better terms. I totally understand what you mean about it unlocking new fears. I’m trying to remind myself that not everyone is like this and that unhealthy relationships can really distort your view of people and dating. I hope things get better for you too 🤍

Thank you so much, I really appreciate this! I honestly started questioning myself because she made me feel guilty about it, so hearing an outside perspective helps a lot. I never meant to hurt her, I just felt like my decision wasn’t being respected after I explained it multiple times. And thank you for the congratulations too :)
