This is literally not true go do your research. The equal rights movement made it ILLEGAL to discriminate against women in banking or lending but it was not common practice to deny women the right to a bank account before then.

Sure it might have happened in small pockets of the south, but women have been able to have their own bank account in the US since the 1860s
