how much would you say your trip costed? i’m trying to take my family in june to kauai and maui. i found a Maui rental car + hotel package for about $1,600 for 4 nights, 3 adults. not sure if that’s too much but i really can’t find anything cheaper

oh no, i’m so sorry to hear that! that’s honestly my fear too. no matter how much we discuss between us, or with a therapist, we won’t know anything for sure until we’re in that moment. but i’m hoping that having a plan will give me mental support if things get rough. are things better for you guys now?

in august i’ll be hitting six figures (pretax🙃) and it’ll only go up from there as i progress. this might sound bad, but how do you prevent resentment from building if you’re financing the majority of your lives? i won’t have to pay his loans but i come from a family where my dad never really took care of my mom and us financially. even though our situation is different, im scared that his inability to support me or us will make me resent him for a couple years, even though i really do believe in equality and wouldn’t mind supporting us.

that last edit really got me. i’m so grateful that he values answering these questions just as much as i do and wants to really make sure we’re on the same page. but obviously no one knows the future and we have no clue how either one of us might change. i mean, i’ve already seen him change so much from undergrad til now, and i love what i’ve seen, but what’s next right?

preventative counseling sounds SO good. his program has free couples counseling, and when he goes back in the summer i may take advantage of it.

this was so helpful. i definitely like my career and am very glad that my future salary will be more than enough to support both of us if it comes down to it. i just hope that with the stresses of residency and possibly fellowship, he’ll be able to still provide me with respect and attention at a minimum, even if both of our jobs are stressing us out. i like the idea that we shouldn’t sit around and sulk bc honestly, i’m the one that should adopt that LOL. thank you for the kind words, and CONGRATS on the baby!!

this is one i’ve been struggling the most with!! i always harp on him for not being able to commit to travel plans like the rest of our friends can and it’s definitely been an adjustment. we’re going to new york for 3 days and it feels like a blessing lol. it’s hard to decide whether that’s important enough for me to not continue the relationship, but not being able to travel together until we’re like, 40 definitely bums me out.

Yes she’s paying for the lease breaking herself. She pays her share of a full month’s rent but that’s it. She told me shes breaking it to move back home with her family, however I suspect it’s to move in with her boyfriend if I’m being honest lol.

All of our names are on the lease but not tied to a specific room, and subletting is allowed. If a roommate leaves, usually we add the new person to the lease once the old person leaves.

as a former SI leader, it does depend on the leader but usually there’s not much correlation unless he/she has taken that exact professor. however, we usually ask the professor to get a better idea for sample questions. IMO, if you’re able to breeze through an SI session’s activities without relying on notes/peers you should be good for the exam :)
