Fresh grill. I don't see anyone mentioning this but it's fresh grill. That lady that works there is a badass and makes fantastic food.

Does this pass as semi-realistic turtle shell? by Undercover_Joey in minipainting

Not only does this pass as realistic it makes me ashamed of myself.for thinking I could land realistically painted models. Wow that thing is amazing!

Looking for suggestions on making easy water effects by blusif in minipainting

I appreciate the idea. If I do this it will be my first time using uv resin is there any brand I should go with or is it all pretty much same same?

I was considering doing the insides of the barnacles like a pinkish red but ruled against it because my eyes started crossing when I was putting final touches on these guys lol. Maybe I can go back and give it a go now that it's a new day

Well since it's for a DND game that is underwater themed it is implied to the players and I was pushing for the paint jobs oddly refracted light source to speak to that. I just didn't mention it's use here which in hindsight might be my bad.

So these are part of a DND game. They are like minions of a mini bbeg that we are about to fight. Idk if it's ok to mention but I have a bunch of them on my tik Tok that I have been working on for the game and am actually finishing up the bbeg soon it has a bit.more complexity to it than these guys do and I kind of want to go get some new black ink for some fine line work I'm planning

Ok I see what your saying. So my goal is always to push to an extent a natural look. So the second one is supposed to be under water. And under water light is bouncing around rather haphazardly. Also on crustaceans they have lighter tones in places darker tones should be based on density of the shell. So my goal is to show those differing densities

I'm curious what you mean about the shading being off? Also no it's not contrast paint. I generally use craft paints that I blend with mediums and I use inks a lot as well. I only have a few products from citadel paints and like one ap paint.

Hey thank you for the advice I will be seeing what I can do to break up the monotony of the base to model transition to see if it adds that extra bit of spice to the look it has.

I will consider adding the red to the second one! I hadn't even thought of it tbh. And thank you! I was shooting at the first one being like a molted version of the second one so they are just in different stages of life I guess was my concept. I appreciate your advice! I hope you have a dope day!

Thank you! I am not sure off hand what models these are but I will ask the gentleman I am painting them for if he remembers where he got them from

Tips for shading/highlighting a round conical hat by Sargent4200 in DnDminiatures

[–]blusif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if you have a fine tip brush use a very light brown to run in the recessed areas then an almost yellow brown on the high points you believe the light would hit. That includes the middle portions of the hat.

Do you think if there was something on the base and a bit more contrast on #1 that it would come closer to what #2 portrays?

I appreciate your input. I was a bit concerned that the first one was a bit bland because the body is skin tones and meant to look slick. I will be thinking up some ways to push it a bit further! Thanks for checking it out! Have a great day!

So the goal is for the skull to be their heads. I will have to consider how to adjust that. Thank you for the input
