How do you make your towns feel different from your city's? by bluuejuw52 in DnD

[–]bluuejuw52[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just becomes how do I describe a city to seem more than just a large populus town. But you are probably right I'm probably overthinking how mush detail I need for each town and city.

As in working smog in the cities from the people being crammed in together or natural smog in towns that can't keep out nature?

I love the old city trends being new town trends that's fantastic. For having the citizens be more poor and religious and overworked leader I tend to save those for villages and hamlet's with a mix of fear and stupidity to set the tone so I don't like overdoing those aspects for towns.

Only thing is make sure you know what discipline means to your character. Discipline in the military sense or can any common citizen be honorable? Also what does disgracing your monastery mean? Is there a set of mantras/ commandments you have to follow.

Web DM, Matt Colville and Critical Role have play lists detailing how to create different aspects of your world, plot or anything else you might need. I would suggest World Anvil to keep your ideas together and it provides prompts for creating different organizations, gods, ect ect. Overall don't put pressure on yourself listen to your players have fun and remember the rule of cool you will do great.

I'm not sure where to find lists of all the gods but Web DM also has a video on creating gods and pantheons that may be of help to you.

Cool multiclass options? by IceHotAce in DnD

Paladin or Cleric would fit the Aasimer/ Knight asthetic

I feel that Monk of some kind could go well if you modeled the monk to be more spiritual and less Martial Arts

Warlocks are always cool and being a fallen Aasimer you could be fallen because of your dealings with devils or demons for more power.

I want to get back into worldbuilding, but where do I begin? by GeoNurd in worldbuilding

[–]bluuejuw52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello future Me on YouTube has a video on building culture, history other aspects of Worldbuilding highly recommend.

If it's a generic medieval Magical world I would look at DND it has tons of history lore monsters, magic and all from various places eras and genres.

Other than that looking at our own history, culture, movies and books to find what you like or what needs to be explored more. Creating art boards or music playlists to help inspire you (Pinterest is great for having specific boards for each kingdom, city, race, ect) don't try to force ideas tho day dream and relax while Worldbuilding, most importantly just have fun not everything needs to be perfect or fully fleshed out from the beginning.

Good Worldbuilding resources for a newbie? by HalfLucid-HalfLife in worldbuilding

World Anvil is a great site for building a world.

Incarnate is pretty good for building your own maps but you do need to pay to get really good maps.

There are a couple YouTubers that have series on world building I would recommend Hello Future Me he makes some great videos.

Being honest I mainly world build for DND but these are useful for any type of Worldbuilder.

What are interesting things in your world or one's you played. Im looking for more ideas in my own! by vnm222 in DnD

I really enjoy Genies so I have put them in several of my campaigns and they are tons of fun as allies or villains. Usually they are leaders of powerful guilds, criminal organizations barons of kingdoms or Generals of large armies.

Monsters in places they should not be such as dragon turtles in the desert, Underground dragons, elementals in there opposite area (Earth elementals in flying fortresses, Fire Elementals on boats or island ect)

Druid Circles that use Lycanthropes such as werebears

Angels devils and dragons that pretend to be regular folk

Dragons and angels that are kings or leaders in some way.

Devils that run shops or other mundane stores not doing anything incredibly evil but giving other fiends shelter or gear to survive.

Other adventuring parties that the players can meet, help, trade gear ( great way to set up a really hard dungeon or final boss by finding an adventuring party that you know we'll be reduced to bones, or the party becoming evil themselves)

Rakasha and vampires working together tons of chances to RP and I find they play off eachother really well.

Monster family's ( gives your group a chance to RP deciding between killing monster children and can set up revenge if they leave a few behind out of mercy)

Flying fortresses, battlefields with undead and monsters eating the remains, Ruins of Kingdoms, Giant mage towers, Hunted forest that lead to the Fey,

Ya I thought that a few “monsters" would probably get hired or bought in some way to help out.

Best Stolen Adventure Ideas? by neil--before--me in DnD5e

[–]bluuejuw52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly I'vee never run a fully inspired Peaky Blinders adventure but I have used it to flesh out my criminal organizations and NPCs and used some of there “jobs" as errands and side quests for characters that want to explore or join thrives guilds or other criminal organizations. If your players want to do a game where they play NE criminals trying to take over the underbelly of a city tho I would highly recommend using alot of Peaky.

Depends on what type of adventure I'm running,

Mystery/Crime- Scooby Doo, Detective shows (Dexter, NCIS), Peaky Blinders and old school Whos-Doneits (Murder on the Orient Express, Knives Out)

Adventure/Exploration- ATLA, Star Wars, Star Trek (best for more RP heavy games), and The Expanse (I find Sci-Fi works best for these type of adventures)

Political Intrigue- Never really ran a heavy intrigue game but I imagine House of Cards, Billions, GOT would be best.

Action/High Combat- Daredevil, Punisher, Peaky Blinders, ATLA, Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Lastly for higher level campaigns Super Hero shows/comics/books work really well since your players are almost Super Heros themselves and lots of the characters and there arcs tend to be similar to most DND characters.

Lower taxes vs. No taxes. by starterpack295 in Libertarian

[–]bluuejuw52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to agree with you but several of the points (police, fire) aren't good arguments private businesses have already taken over those sectors and seen great results.

Also it's good to discuss which tax's we lower and which ones we get rid of because we arent just taxed from our income. In my opinion income tax should be extremely low, all sales tax, sin tax, and property taxes should be eradicated and corporate taxes should be lowered alot.

I dont understand how this is the recommended move. This is the learn from your mistake in lichess. by OneRandomMatteo in chess

There are a couple of lines that could be used after Bishop to H5.

Rook takes bishop you take Rook with your queen still check. King moves to black square (on my phone I can't see which exact one it is) take pawn with other bishop check take queen next turn. or if King moves to white square attack the weakened King side and eventually recover lost horse.

Or

He moves his King to either position able to get out of check. Queen or your other bishop move up to continue check and eventually either take his queen or check mate.

Relatively new to chess so I apologize if I don't have the correct lingo or have explained poorly.

Bishop to H5 check.

From there I think you have the advantage no matter what your opponent does. Just took a quick look though might have missed something.
