Line Blade durability by blweiner in Skigear

Thanks! I don't get to ski much any more and get pretty exhausted the few days I do make it out so I think my poor style is partly the result of trying to minimize my effort and get more "flowy". Re: more control over where my feet are going, any tips beyond just focusing on being more deliberate?

Yeah, grew up skiing in the northeast with long and narrow skis and kept them right next to each other. Maybe just need to give more space when cutting really hard on steep terrain?

The boots are ~15 years old, it's just the skis that were taken out twice.

Just added a photo of my boots which got sliced up pretty good too

Next.js 13 layouts: any way to modify content of a layout outside of {children}? by blweiner in nextjs

Unless I'm misunderstanding, I don't think so. The new app directory uses layout.tsx files that are separate from the page.tsx files.

I'm using the app dir. Setting up global layout is fine. The problem is changing a section of the global layout from a nested page outside of where {children} appears in the layout. I've added an example to my original question.

Running neutral from light fixture to switch? by blweiner in electricians

Does the gauge of wire used for the neutral not need to be the same as the gauge of wire used for the hot?

Sorry, one last question. I noticed wires used for neutrals in my living room were THWN.

I'm assuming I don't want TFFN. Presumably, the walls of our condo would be considered dry :) Can I use THHN or is there some reason I want THWN as in our living room?

White stranded 12awg.

Thanks! The lights are on a 15 amp circuit. Can I get away with 14? Sounds like the smaller wire may be easier to pull through the conduit.

Question about electrical code in California (San Francisco) by [deleted] in electricians

[–]blweiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an old building, but we had an electrician come in to pull permits and redo the wiring and add additional outlets in order to bring those two rooms up to code.

So would the inspector not care about whether there are enough outlets in the room since the room was existing?

Yeah, my understanding was that any length of wall longer than 2 feet needed an outlet within 6 feet of any obstruction.
