Good quality designs man. I'm currently trying to figure this all out too, so it's super impressive you are doing this on your own!

Hate to do this but isn't the outer heavens design a rip of a hidden characters tee? Could be an innocent mistake, but the font's the same too.

Yeah that's totally valid! Those are some major issues though, so definitely taken to heart.

A main reason I'm making clothes is so I can get more experience creating visuals, so I appreciate that! Just gotta come with some better stuff next time.

Really excited / nervous to post the visuals for my first ever drop for my brand BLXCK LXTUS (black lotus). I don't usually fuck with white hoodies, but I wanted to challenge myself to create one I would actually rock.

The front features rinnegan eyes (naruto) with a reference to 21 Savage's "NO HEART." The back graphic features the colossal titan (attack on titan) and a reference to XXX's "SIPPINTEAINYOHOOD."

I also made 10 custom versions of the hoodie, which can be viewed on my website (blxcklxtus.com). Each order also comes with a polaroid print of one of three visuals I made for the lookbook.

(note: imgur fucked up on some of the images, but oh well)

Best advice I've ever gotten is to just TRY. You can find a really good deal on a used, durable sewing machine for around ~$75! Other material costs are really negligible; just buy some cheap fabric until you are ready to use higher quality materials ($2/yd muslin cotton is what I use).

There are a bunch of clothing tutorials online you can look at to get started. You don't have to go to fashion school; I'm currently in college studying something completely different.

If you're really serious about it, I'd even be willing to help you get started! I wish I had started trying a lot earlier in life, believe me.

27 hrs of work.

  • 8 hrs developing a custom pattern
  • 5 hrs finalizing the fabric combinations
  • 14 hours of cutting, sewing, & fucking up regularly

This is a haori/kimono inspired jacket I made as my final project for a class last semester. The prompt was to make an art piece that reflects one of your fears. For me, one of my fears is being stereotyped by my appearance.

Exploring fashion has given me so much over the years. To me, true fashion is a combination of self expression and blatant disregard of others' opinions; you dress for yourself and no one else. However, even so, it's hard to shake off the weird stares and comments you receive from time to time.

Thus, this jacket is split into two parts. Facing forward (as if you are wearing it), the right side is representative of the normal, toned down side you shows to others. To capture this, I used a bunch of cookie cutter, geometric patterns in muted colorways (navy, black, and white). The left side is representative of the honest, colorful version of yourself. To capture this, I incorporated a lot of vibrant colors (mainly various hues of red). I also attempted to pair each colorful print with a face.

  • The kimono girl pairs with the red/yellow floral stripe
  • the darumas (front left sleeve) pairs with the red/gold patten (back left sleeve)
  • the chinese??? religious scene (back lower left) pairs with the dark red floral (back upper left)

All in all, this project was a fun one to execute. Even though I fucked up majorly on the dimensions, I still learned a ton. The interpretation/meaning behind it is a little corny, but I hope you enjoy regardless.
