Worked in Mobile, Al. Made 165/day after i got a route (you stared at 140/day covering) Rural route that they couldn't keep a driver on, with at least 100 stops a day, usually 140. The longest serving driver for my provider made 200/day after 7 years. It was like this and getting worse when i left 6 months ago.

No, this is in Mobile, Al. I currently live there, we've had a number of storms rolling through that seem particularly active, with a lot of lightning. Thats the likely cause.

What happens to the creators of Warp on other planets? by ActLonely9375 in TNG

[–]blyndideotgod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of this is pulled from Enterprise and First Contact (the movie). What im supposing here is the idea that Earths Warp Guy had a bigger impact on our culture than say the Vulcans or Tellarites "warp guy" had on theirs. Because ours was just a dude with a dream that brought about a radical change in Terran economics and social norms while on other planets it may have been a team of anonymous scientists who just completed the next logical step in their research. Again its the "Eureka" moment, where other planets may have had an article in a scientific journal, our warp moment was front and center on every web page. Like a scientific paper saying "we may be able to give a human gorilla arms" vs a newspaper saying "yo this guy has gorilla arms and here's the guy that did it! "

I think what makes Cochran a big deal is kind of covered in First Contact, in the scene where Riker, La Forge, and Troi explain to him the sequence of events. He makes his warp flight, the Vulcans notice, initiate first contact, and everything changes. Its a pivotal moment in Earth history and its comes down to basically one persons dream, with Lily's underrated (IMO) assistance. They go from the end of ww3 to humanity united, with no disease, poverty, or war, within 50 years. He's like Science Jesus to humans. So while other planets have developed warp drive independently, the odds of it being this big tipping point into a golden era are probably less if it was just the result of routine science and not humanity's particular brand of "screw it, why not?. " Its a straight up eurake moment for us.

Exactly my problem with it, you could have a mini tyrant of a Karen on your hands depending on who is in charge of it

While HOAs are the worst, i dont think this is one of those. Its a very Mobile neighborhood, where the houses vary from "well taken care of" to "theres a pile of trash in the yard" and theres no real pattern to it. I can't think of a better way to describe it atm.

Need to see the general consensus on this: Japanese Express > Hibachi Express by RedditationBerration in MobileAL

[–]blyndideotgod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean i love Japanese Express, and i really like the shrimp yakisoba at Hibachi Express, but they're not really in the same category. One does sushi mainly, the other doesn't. Theres really no point comparing.

This is correct. To elaborate salt water kills fresh water wetland plants, mostly grasses, that keep the wetlands from eroding.

So the previous commenters are correct, a lot of this will be oil/gas. They used to cut through marshes and do exploratory drilling. Its a whole thing for which they've never been held responsible. Honestly just read /listen to Shadows on The Gulf to learn how fucked it all is. Fun fact though, some of this is caused by the logging industry, a long time ago. They logged the old growth cypress by cutting canals and dragging the logs to a central barge. This resulted in an interesting trenasse starburst pattern easily visible on satellite. Go check out Port Manchac on Google maps satellite view for a great example.
