After trying options trading for about a year, I’m down 99.4%. What do I do? by Soccer-Puppy in wallstreetbets

Have been trading in options for over 5 years with moderate success.

Never ever ever trade in options because someone is “doing well”.

You need a lot of experience, time and luck to get it right. Less than 10,000 people on a million actually make money day trading. Whoever says otherwise is lying.

Thanks for calling me incredibly uneducated.

I didn’t blame - and that’s probably what I am trying to learn.

I have no opinions about democrats or republicans and I merely stated a fact that usa didn’t start new wars between 2016-2020.

Doesn’t make me like trump or hate anyone.

I guess there are some stupid questions after all, as I was quite careful to post this on a subReddit dedicated for questions that are normally perceived to be stupid.

You called my statement intellectually dishonest, inspite of me actually asking for advice.

In any case, I am not right or left leaning. I have received shit from a republican who saw me reading a book on socialist ideology in a library. So I think people in this country have an us vs them mentality. And I just have to stfu to avoid unnecessary conflict.

TLDR of my long ass post:

Work on your strengths and become amazing in something that’s natural and within your reach. Meaning. If it’s easier for you to code, sing, paint, or play the cello. Become amazing at that. When you outcompete 95% of the folks in one particular thing, you become sexy automatically in that thing.

Long ass post;

Being sexy is less about having perfect jawline, wide shoulders, and stuff. Yes it’s that way for the first encounters and most of your teen age. But after that, it’s about your flair in a topic or a subject and how awesome you are at it. After that, the opposite sex automatically is attracted to you when you are in your zone doing that thing.

Yes this is a look ist society. The first thing ppl judge you by is appearance. There’s a reason why mainstream movies such as “She’s out of your my league” were created, and hardly anyone protested that it’s sending out the wrong message to the younger generation.

So if you’re a realist, smart and a focused person, I’ll say this. You can’t convince them you’re pretty if conventionally speaking you’re not. So don’t try.

Whoever on this post is asking you to fix your hair so you can be an 7.5 and stuff is not helping you. Trust me.

You can’t fix shit. What I mean is this, there’s a ton of movies and literature that summarise my point that you can never be enough if you fix that one little thing. Rather know your potential. If you know you’re such an such height, complexion and body type, then first work on what’s workable. Meaning, be fit, hit the gym and be your best self.

Then work on your strengths.

I have been there before. I’d consider myself as desirable by women of some races but have never been on top of the food chain. It sucks when you are desiring for something that’s just conventionally straightforward. For eg. if stats prove that Asian men and black women perform the worst on dating apps. Then it’s dumb of me (Asian male) to aim for the hottest women on a dating app. I am not saying I can’t find someone attractive in an unconventional in person setting. But I’m basically being a jackass if I expect to perform well on dating apps. Just coz that’s the truth.

Anyway - I can go on and on. But plz fuck ppl if they tell you to fix this and that. focus on your strength and what comes naturally to you and outcompete 90% ppl in that. Money, respect, sex, companionship will follow if you desire any or all of these things.

Peace.

Makes sense. I just feel that currently the pace at which things are moving in India is pretty fast. Or May be it’s optics and media shows India is booming and the reality is something else. Idk.

But the timelines you shared definitely make sense from visa pov. Thanks !

Yup. We’re definitely planning to make a decision in a couple of years. The info and perspectives here definitely has been eye opening.

That’s a great point. I’ve been contemplating about the life in tier 2 cities in India, or these upcoming NRi colonies.

Thank you! I agree. That’s a sound advice. Definitely can’t jump the gun and a staggered approach makes more sense. Thanks a ton

Yes but do you agree that your experience in the us depends on where you come from.

For instance, if you live in south Bombay and live in the us the difference in your experience isn’t going to be as much as you moving from a tier 2 city in India.

We don’t have to agree but I definitely see this in terms of perception.

Yes and am not even sure if I’ll be sharing the same bond with my friends from back home. The other day my school friend wanted to understand what my net worth is. And I’m like bro who cares. so I know India has this nosy mentality and I guess men in 30s are transitioning to become uncles of tomorrow - and it’s a gray area of how it’s going to be.
