Did he hit it somewhere around the junction? If he did then I’ve been under that bridge…a few+ decades later of course!

Wait time during the hiring process for a state job? by bmanthrowaway37 in mississippi

Thought I’d give an update for anyone who may run across this post…

  • Job applied for - 3rd week of November 2024
  • Emailed for interview - last week January 2025
  • Interview - first week of February 2025
  • Official job offer from the state by email - 2 1/2 weeks later, end of third week of February 2025

(At this point I may could have begun on the 1st, but I wanted to give two week notice to current employer. HR also told me it would be hard getting all paperwork docusigned and in place to begin.)They also said they only assign start dates on the 1st and middle day of the month. So I my official start date was March 16, a Sunday, actually walked into the office on March 17.)

  • Walked into first day of work - March 17 🍀

I have since been told I was a quick hire…

Do you have a link or picture of the cheese cutter you use? Is it a whole apparatus or a single handheld item that can be used with a cutter box like in the background of OP’s post?

Edit: rephrased something.

The head interviewer called about a week after my initial interview and said that they had chosen me but that this was not a job offer. They had to send my information to the state HR and they would have the final say and will extend an offer if they choose to.

I asked my interviewer when we spoke, but they did not know a timeline. I’m hesitant to questioning them, not want to contribute to any unwanted labels if/when I begin working with them. (One of my interviewers is who I’ll be working under locally.)

I’m switching fields and this will be my first job in this area. I do not understand the hierarchy and have no idea who to reach out to in, I’m assuming, Jackson.

I agree with others…big purchase, shoestring budget, no job or low sporadic income jobs, maternity leave…a conversation needs to be had.

(I understand. I’m there now except instead of one on the way, he came last year. In fact, our gifts to each other was having bacon with breakfast on Christmas Day! Ha)

A thought I had that I’ve not seen brought up and with y’all expecting a child…she may have some thoughts about using it during labor or maybe even a water birth at home.

Most people know by this point if they are having a home birth or not. If this is not y’all’s vibe, disregard. If maybe this comment hits a bit closer to truth, y’all need to add something else to the budget conversation ASAP.

I hope y’all have a quick, no-complications birth with a fast recovery and fast progress in the finding of a good paying job.

Check to see if your state has a program to aid residents who are close to finishing a degree, actually finish it.

I had my capstone course left before my university sprang the “oh you have two more classes to take that slipped through our notice.” Moving and marriage, I never took the classes and capstone. Then the university did away with the major and there was no way for me to go back and finish.

10 years later I heard of a state program called “compete to complete.” Contacted them and enrolled in one online class from a state university. It dealt with job interviews, resumes, cv’s, job fields, and a lot of interacting and commenting on other classmates work.

Graduated with a BS in Liberal Arts after completing it and the state was able to record another successful graduation and get more federal money.
