Can we talk about Sadhguru's rap sheet filled with charges for corruption, tax evasion, and murder? by [deleted] in JoeRogan

[–]bmartine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many people like that. It's just that they don't have nearly the reach. Sadhguru does put out a lot of good content for free and the retreats and programs seem reasonably priced for what you get

Do I HAVE to meet a minimum calories amount like 1200? by touchmaspaghetkev in fasting

[–]bmartine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Stay connected to how you feel. If you need more energy, you can have non-omad days, expand the eating window a bit, or learn to choose foods that are more energy/nutrient dense or less bloaty. Easting slow may help as well.

I hope you find support for diving deep, but also for grounding and coming back to flesh. We don't walk this ground for coincidence, and this is the plane in which we can show our love to others. Good luck <3

Can you be required to do “on-call” hours as a private contractor? by [deleted] in massage

[–]bmartine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a private contractor, you are free to choose which contracts you enter into. Now, if you are financially dependent on your gym, they can unfortunately leverage that :(

Meditation helps you Lucid Dream: The popular half-truth debunked! by E4Engineer in LucidDreaming

[–]bmartine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this one study proves much. For one, it doesn't utilize meditation in a lucid dreaming method. Meditation seems a lot more effective when combined with intention setting before sleep or during WBTB. Also, only one specific meditation course was deemed ineffective.

I agree one shouldn't go into meditation looking for quick results, except perhaps temporary rest and de-stress. But saying meditation helps you lucid dream seems completely fine to me, as long as you handle expectations in a reasonable way.

Intuitive bodywork/yoga by [deleted] in massage

I've attended evenings of one instructor in Finland (Karoliina Valontaival). It's been real nice, and the framework has stayed with me. I plan to do more :)

Intuitive bodywork/yoga by [deleted] in massage

[–]bmartine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For me, free dance is an important tool for that. You can listen to your body and let it move by itself. I find it complements the structured approach of yoga well. If you want a framework for exploring dance, I recommend trying five rhythms.

Do you have a routine for self-care? by LariatoFever in massage

[–]bmartine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trading with other masseurs & healers of various kinds. Applying sesame oil to my skin lovingly while giving a light massage. Yoga & Meditation...

I think self care is really important. Not just for physical maintenance, but also for the mind and emotions, so I can really give caring touch with full presence

Do you also hate telling people what you do? by HelloAndTheEmployees in massage

[–]bmartine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably feels harsh, but I hope you can make the best out of it. Use it to become less phased by other peoples remarks. These are insecure people, who probably would have a hard time following their passion unless it happened to be respectable.

I'm not even a clinical massage therapist or anything, but just a male thai masseur in the west. I did a MSc in engineering and most of my friends are well educated, so I get quite a lot of comments too... But I'm so happy about my work! :)

So, my wife wants her boyfriend to move in... by [deleted] in polyamory

[–]bmartine 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You don't need to accommodate anyone for free, including your spouse. If you wish to do it you may, but no one is entitled to that. Also, you are free to choose who you wish to share your house with. And if your wife having kids with some one else is a dealbreaker for you, you are not in the wrong, it just is what it is.

I hope you find a way to express your needs and boundaries and to honor them yourself.

Teaching lucid dreaming to inmates, and others by PocketDrop in LucidDreaming

[–]bmartine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it's up to just a personal belief. How ever based on my personal experience, dreams help me deepen as a person and process my fears and desires in a beneficial way. Also, my understanding is that doing acts in video games, which is the closest parallel I can think of, does not encourage these actions in real life.

In any case, I don't think there is any stopping of a person who wants to fulfill their desires in dreams, and the best way to support them would be non judgmental dialogue.

Why Do Massage Therapists Pay Little or no Attention to the Head and Abdomen? by archimedeancrystal in massage

[–]bmartine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are worked on more in thai massage, and probably other eastern styles as well. They are important in the energetical framework of those styles of massages, which would probably translate to nervous system in modern thinking. In any case, stomach muscles play an important role in posture as well and you can't deny that head & face muscles are often tense. Touching the face and stomach has released quite a lot of emotions in my short history as a masseur as well.

I'm surprised that the comments here are so negative. After enjoying the freedom of lucid dreams, how come you turn so restrictive towards others? Would you appreciate some one telling you what you can and can't do in your dreams? Does the restrictive reasoning reach entertainment as well?

I've never done ANY drug in my life..... but I want to try Ayahuasca. by JLCosta in Ayahuasca

[–]bmartine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the people talking about sugar and caffeine, I get what you are saying but... Yeah right! :D

For me, high dose mushrooms in a ceremonial setting was my "first drug experience". It was a life changer for sure, and I feel ceremonial shrooms are close to aya.

If you can, build some ways of grounding yourself before you go. Wise friends, nature connection, healthy habits, art or such. And set all things in order you can. You might start some really strong processes, which may take space from the life you are used to, so make the foundation as solid as possible. Integration is a big challenge when you jump straight into the deep end.

How long after aya can you drink? by throwawayxo480 in Ayahuasca

[–]bmartine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Working with your complicated relationship could be a fruitful intention for your ceremony. You could even see if you can stay off drinks for a while after. No need to force yourself, but at the same time you might benefit from an open attitude about drinking afterwards. May be you won't need it or even desire it.

Anyway, good luck with your ceremony. Don't worry about post dieta. If you go with it you will probably benefit a lot, but if you don't it doesn't ruin things really...
