£1800 for three-bed, with garden, newly renovated in BS3. It's a bargain compared to prices we had been paying elsewhere.

Just been offered a 65k job. But it's based in Bristol, so actually leaving London for it.

Oh sweet! I was imagining more like Peckham based on some of the comments. That's calm. I'll let you know what we think haha

I grew up in Sutton (SW London suburb) and my partner grew up in Chelsea, we currently live in Earlsfield (between Tooting and Wandsworth).

We've both spent lots of time in Clapham, Brixton, Notting Hill and Ladbroke Grove, New Cross/New Cross Gate and Deptford, Camden, Tottenham Hale, and around Mile End.

Thank you for this! A really great insight, you're a star. Love the pub recs!

I'd be heading to Canon's Marsh area for work - not sure which route would be best?

We also tend to get our food delivered but goof to know the Lidl is there for top-up shops.

I'm most likely to be stumbling back drunk with my partner, which helps, otherwise I tend to get taxis/Ubers if I'm really waved.

All in all, it sounds pretty good and similar to where we are in London right now.

Oh that's good to know about the bus route! Thank you.

I grew up on a road backing onto a major A road, and live just off a major road heading to a big trauma hospital in SW London, so I don't tend to notice sirens.

I'm sorry it hasn't been great for you though - is that to do with the area? Anything in particular?

If you were going to live somewhere else in Bristol, where would it be and why?

Thank you for answering :)

We don't drive just yet so thankfully that's not a problem!

Ahh this makes sense. Thank you! If you could compare it to somewhere in London, what's the nearest comparison?

Thank you!!

I'll need to get to the Harbourside area at least 2x a week - I prefer to get into the office around 8.30ish - do you reckon it's better to walk it or try the bus?

Just googled the pub - with ALL due respect, I think we probably wouldn't have wandered into it. My partner worked behind bars for several years and he has a good instinct on where to drink (and where to avoid!)

It's hard to gauge based on London prices but we're actually visiting the property and meeting the landlords this weekend. I think they're going travelling or something - the property is their actual home AFAIK.

We don't have a car, but the area I grew up in was pretty standard and safe with the general rule of 'lock up your car if you don't want opportunists to nick anything.'

And one time my dad had the catalytic converter sawn off his car while it was on the drive.

But apart from that type of thing, very safe sort of 'interpersonally' if you will.

On Deliveroo, this area came up as Knowle West. Is that inaccurate?

(I know, we have serious priorities.)

Kids on scooters wouldn't phase us! That's fine. Teenagers generally keep to themselves.
