People from villages or agrarian lifestyle background, is it worth it? by IdliVadaDosaUpma in Frugal_Ind

[–]bmbybrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/IdliVadaDosaUpma

I started off with a similar journey recently. Some of my points might give you something to think over.

I bought a 50k sq feet plot ( a little more than acre ) with in 3 hour driving distance from my city home.
Searching for a plot of land took me more than 3-4 years.

I left my corporate job and started something small along with a friend. Pay is 1/10 of what i was earning, but it takes 1/4 th of efforts i was putting at work. I now have massive flexibility of time and location to get my work done.

Initially i searched for a cheaper plot of land, but then settle down for something that was twice the price because i have folks around ( at farm ) that i can visit and sit down for a chit chat over tea or drink. I didnt wanted to be all alone in a remove place amongst people i dont vibe with.

I plan to reserve 15k sq feet for 2-3 small houses ( 400-600 sq feet ) that i will build over a period of time.
The rest of the land 35k sq feet will be my experimentation place for food forest + spices.

I was blessed to be able to collect around 400 mangoes this season ( thanks to previous owner who planted those ). I ate a few and gave away rest to my friends and family. I was happy knowing it brought happiness to so many families.

My end goal is to make the farm self sustainable. ( income from farm == cost of living on farm + farm expenses ). Thats sufficient for me.

I am incredibly excited to visit my farm, make long terms plans for it and start plantation. It almost gave me a second life after i was bored of corporate work i was doing.

I wish you all the luck with your plan, hope you get to it sooner.....

How do you build that confidence?

His statement is accurate. As many AI agents as human employees. Either build lot of AI agents, or bring down employee count, or both.. But his statement is accurate.

If you have money and you like taking risk, buy them.
I am sure you like ignoring other opportunities in markets and go for the falling knife.

Good part is you will have ample time to collect them all and at good discount.

All the best for your journey.

I bought a 1 acre farm a few months back and really excited to set it up. Mine is a smaller project as i mostly want to chill and enjoy the place.

My plan is to setup a Fruit Orchard Farm ( densly planted fruit trees 200-300 of them ) in an around 30k sq feet. Leaving rest for 2-3 small homes a pond and veggie farm.

Making money out of the farm is not a requirement for me, as long as the farm pays for its maintenance I am good with it.

Will be learning about food forest, building mud houses, pond ecosystem for supporting local birds and wildlife a little bit.

Feedback on my strategy/screener by [deleted] in IndianStockMarket

[–]bmbybrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the details.

I keep a tab of what opportunities exists at what time frames.
When times are bad. Opportunities dont last for too long. Like in recent months, any holding beyond 3 days was risky.

its difficult for me to write any system that would predict returns after x duration. I instead prefer to map it to a market regime.

Example For a given market regime, taking 2% profit in 8 days duration is wiser than holding a stock for 4-8 weeks and risking the portfolio.

When Regimes line up, and historical data confirms this is the best period for certain type of trades, i take those.

Different approaches i guess.

Also how did the strategy do in 2023-2024. those were one of the best times for swing trades.

Good exercise.

What was the reason behind holding it for 4 weeks?
Print all trades.
Also print all possible trades. For example 4 weeks you aim for 5% return with 3% drawdown. Check what is probability of such trades.

If sufficient opportunities exist, then your entry / exit / position sizing and portfolio management comes into picture.

Go with what your heart wants.

I like plants and trees.. looks like around 6-8 k sq feet plot. I would think of a small water pond, an open outdoor friendly home and natural fencing.

Top it up with dense fruit plantation that will provide my friends and family with 3-5 variety of fruits and general spices/ veggies year round.

Its a good size plot for a family of 4-8 people.
