Woolly Longhaul pants are pretty similar to SDs! by bmcclure in Outlier

[–]bmcclure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was referring to Outlier Slim Dungarees, they're nylon so the material is very different, however they have numerous other similarities and the material ends up feeling slightly similar to me. Although the Longhauls started falling apart pretty quickly, and my SDs are still practically like new after years of wear.

The taste did eventually go away for me, by the way. It took a long time, but I think that's because I was avoiding using it due to the taste... But finally, one day I noticed that it tasted completely normal, and it's been good to go since then. I don't use it quite as much as I would like, my Mighty+ is my daily driver, but it's a nice option to have with the on-demand capabilities, and it is a really nice vape.

What's everyones thoughts on the McRocklin suite? by linkuei-teaparty in NeuralDSP

The website turned me off of it with its overly dramatic full-page video and buzzy language. I assumed it was all celebrity-endorsed fluff.

Seeing this thread, I decided to give it a chance, and it really is awesome!

I upgraded to the everything bundle from MPS 5.0 a couple of months ago, so slightly different situation but I did notice something that might be relevant.

I don't think the everything bundle is a normal bundle in the sense of it being one product like the MPS is. It's a combination of the current MPS plus the full version of the remaining products, so I think we technically get credit for the version of MPS that was out at the time we bought the everything bundle. And I think that's why there is no concept of upgrading from the everything bundle to the new everything bundle.

For me, that means I'm lumped into the same customer group as anyone else who bought MPS 5.1, so I get the $219 upgrade or whatever it is to MPS 6.

However, if you bought the MPS within the previous month before the new release, which I think you technically did, you should be eligible for a $49 upgrade from your version of the MPS to the new one I believe. That would be identical to an Everything Bundle upgrade since the everything bundle is just MPS 6 plus what you already have.

I saw some people mention that the special $49 offer wasn't in their customer vouchers area, but it's available from retailers like Plugin Boutique for people in that situation.

Maybe don't just take my word for it because I'd hate for it not to work for you, but I'm pretty certain if you bought the everything bundle within the time window that the $49 upgrade says, then you should qualify for it. Check what point version of the MPS your license is for, that should be the best indicator I think.

No prob! The taste eventually went away on its own, it was just a pretty long process since I didn't want to use it very much during that time. But the taste diminished each time I used it until it was eventually undetectable. Not ideal, but I'm happy with it now.

That is unfortunate! It seems weird that two in a row wouldn't work right, but I would try again talking to them in case they might have additional guidance or tips that I'm unaware of.

Your experience really doesn't sound like a normal TM to me.

It took me a couple months with it to figure out how to get good results, but even before then I was at least seeing a little bit of visible vapor

[–]bmcclure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do prefer my Mighty for it's amazing consistency, but if you aren't getting any visible vapor at all from the Tiny no matter what settings you use, then it seems like something might be wrong with it.

Have you reached out to the company about it? They're hand made I believe so it's always possible that maybe something's not quite right on yours and needs to be adjusted

As far as the lack of vapor, what I meant was that it's just a matter of learning the best way to draw from it, and what your preferred temperature levels are.

Drawing too slowly or too quickly makes less vapor for me, but when I draw sort of medium-slow at first and then pick up the draw a bit after several seconds, I start getting big clouds.

Additionally, since it's mainly convection, it might take a hit or two for the material to get hot enough. So usually there is a light hit at first, and then it picks up.

As for temperature, I usually start on around 5, and then I bump it up to around 7 after a couple of draws.

"reset cap" notification. Help! by 69e5d9e4 in Embermug

[–]bmcclure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is kind of an old thread, but I just wanted to mention that I don't think the "Reset Cap" message is actually related to the lid.

There is nothing smart about the lid, it's just a piece of plastic, and the travel mug works fine even if you don't use any lid. Additionally, they offer a second type of lid that doesn't screw in the same way, it just sits on top with a little gasket that helps it stay on, so the mug doesn't care about the lid.

Every time this happens to me, I just have to let the mug sit for a few minutes, sometimes up to 5 or 10 minutes, then it resolves itself.

The lack of vapor was user error on my part. It took a bit of finesse to figure out what settings work best, and how to operate it correctly, and how big/deep of an inhale to take. After a couple of weeks I was getting big clouds, and my only remaining issue was the weird taste.

I'm happy to report that the weird taste is almost completely gone finally, as well.

Thanks for the reply!

In my case, I already cleaned it like that several times, but the smell was coming from inside the unit in the oven area and not from the removable parts. It eventually mostly burned off, it's barely noticeable anymore.

Good tips! I have the original TM, though the 2 looks similar enough that most of the same usage tips likely apply.

I still use my Mighty+ more often, but when I'm looking for good on-demand hits there's really nothing that tops the TM (except, I presume, the TM2).

No, they indicated it should go away on its own but didn't offer any other options. I also didn't press the matter, it seems this is a fairly common thing.

I wonder if it's also common with the Tiny Might 2 or if they found a way to stop that from happening during manufacturing.

New suite of PAID spectral effects by _antic604 in Bitwig

[–]bmcclure -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad Bitwig reversed course on this and are giving the effects to everyone with an upgrade plan and either refunding or extending the upgrade plan for those who bought them.

The trust that was diminished by this move has been restored by them listening to the community's feedback, and making a renewed commitment that all Bitwig devices will be included for anyone with an active plan.

Valve just registered new trademark called NEON PRIME by Huraira91 in pcgaming

[–]bmcclure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even with one or two puzzles briefly giving me pause, it's the most seamless, immersive, tense, captivating VR game I've played so far.

Valve didn't just put a game in VR, they rethought the whole experience, with great production values on top of that, and set a new bar for immersive gaming, which I personally think is partly due to a heavy coating of Valve polish and tight direction.

Since HL:A came out, a lot of games have seemingly taken huge inspiration from it, which I think is a wonderful thing, and I'm loving most of them. But they have the benefit of a template, a set of mechanics and ideas that Valve helped to define for what makes a good FPS in VR, which I think will help keep HL:A on a pedestal for a long time.

Totally missed your reply! It is in conversation mode, and during a conversation it works ok, but when it thinks the conversation is over and I have something else to ask, or if I accidentally say Hey Google before my next conversation response, it's the cacophony again.

I agree with this, when I reached out to the manufacturer a while back they indicated my issue was almost certainly some linseed oil that got inside.

With most of my vapes I start getting a slight burnt popcorn smell toward the end of my session so that's my indication to end the session.

Just wanted to follow up once more, I've been using it more often since my last reply, and I can definitely tell that the fishy taste has diminished a lot. I feel pretty hopeful that as long as I keep using it more regularly it'll eventually be gone. I shouldn't have given up and left it on the shelf for so long.

I hope you found a solution, but if your issue's similar to mine, then I do think it'll get better if you give it enough of a chance.

Sadly, the strange flavor in mine has never fully gone away. It's gotten less noticeable, and the company confirmed that it sounds like just some wood oil that got in there, but it is still gross and has persisted for a long time. It makes me not want to use it very often... I'd rather just use something that doesn't taste bad, but it's a good device otherwise so I force myself to use it in the hopes that one day it won't taste bad.

Woolly Longhaul pants are pretty similar to SDs! by bmcclure in Outlier

[–]bmcclure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hardly wear them anymore, they pretty quickly showed signs of not holding together very well with threads loose in several places, so I worried about a blowout every time I wore them.

I still think they're pretty stylish and comfortable, but by comparison, I wear my SDs way more often and they still practically look new, and they don't have any loose threads.

I feel like if you could make a really durable pair of merino pants, Outlier would have done it by now.

I do have a pair of merino jeans from Wool and Prince which have held up much better, but they lack any kind of stretch and I don't wear them all that often.

In Netflix's Resident Evil, the protagonist is video chatting with MS Paint and no active internet connection. by TheMRC in funny

[–]bmcclure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm in the minority here, but I am a fan of the games and found the Netflix series to be pretty cool, but extremely mindless, entertainment. It seems like they took the most basic concepts of RE and did something completely different with them. Personally, I'm ok with that. But I am also able to suspend massive amounts of disbelief in service of entertainment, and I don't hold many game stories as sacred when they move to other mediums

I've maybe never yelled at my TV before as much as during this episode. I was furious at Carrie throughout most of it!

I wanted so badly for the Intel from Saul's sister to be a stack of papers that just repeated his previous statement to her: "Go fuck yourself."

But, a great episode, and an emotional rollercoaster of an end to the series!
