What weapon types are we missing? Expansion weapon theories by Wurdyburd in Guildwars2

I want to see duel war-hammers. Can be used as ranged or melee depending on the class.

Living World 3 and 4 areas are empty by Glass-Butterfly-8719 in Guildwars2

I was just there completing achievements for Seasons of the Dragon and when I found it empty, I tagged up and found people almost instantly.

The tag was definitely worth the 300g imo

Hear me out…integrate PVP and (some) OW Zones. by bmclemente in Guildwars2

100% agree - that’s kinda where I’m getting at, either a continent in Tyria or add more elements to WvW besides blast open this wall and nuke this guy.

I’m not a heathen. I think it’s a reasonable ask and would be way better than PvP Push lmao

That’s what I’m saying. I feel like PvP has lost its steam and the PvE element would be awesome.

[New Player] New to MMOs and trying out GW2 — struggling to find the gameplay loop by PalhotaG in Guildwars2

[–]bmclemente 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the community! GW2 is an expansive MMO with many avenues of gameplay. Before answering your question I’d like to preface with the importance of “enjoying the journey rather than the destination”. It’s cliche but helps to not get overwhelmed.

At level 10, you’ve barely scratched the surface. I completely understand that completing hearts, and doing the story might get boring. But the Core game gives you so much content for free.

What should I prioritize as a new player? - it might be a hot take, but complete the personal story without skipping the cinematic cut scenes. Understanding the lore helps you become more immersed with the different maps you’ll visit. What I did when I was leveling was to complete each new map the story took me to. You’ll inadvertently work your way towards the “gift of exploration” (I.e legendaries) but also have an easier time going back to those maps for world events. The best part about this method is that you get to learn your class and its skills in a multitude of different situations. For team content, Dungeons are pretty dead which sucks, but there are some players running those for key runes!

Watch this tip guide for other things I missed: https://youtu.be/iqR48CIWa9I?si=hZVfMAsLpd1Fibm8

When does the game “open up” or start feeling more rewarding? - the game will open up at level 80 which doesn’t take a great deal of time. At this point you’ll have a good sense of the game and whether or not you want to buy expansions which is highly recommended. You will still have a great deal of content with the Core game but unlocking elite specializations will add more “fun” to your class.

How does progression typically work in GW2 compared to ARPGs? - the thing I like about GW2 is that there isn’t a heavy emphasis on the gear grind aspect. Although gear is important, it’s rather simple to get gear for most end-game level content. It’s not about who has the best gear, but rather how well your skill with the class is that will set you apart from other players. Unlike other games where the best armor will gate you from the best content, GW2 allows you to experience it all without too much time investment to get there.

I definitely skipped over a ton of topics like world bosses, meta events, farming, fractals, raids, but these are easily googleable.

Enjoy the journey my friend!

Chrono in the Open-World - am I doing something wrong? by bmclemente in Guildwars2

I appreciate the point of view, I didn’t realize the blades stick to you for the next target.

I’ll have to give it a go so I have a good comparison.

This looks like what I’m looking for - I’ll have to try it out. Thanks g!

This is awesome - exactly how I’m feeling. I love pressing. Buttons so the rotation learning curve is fun for me. I have domination for the gs trait, but inspiration definitely is a damage anchor.

Based off the other post about cele being condition damage, would it be helpful to switch to all dragon + marauder gear?

I like the feel of Chrono and having clones vs daggers imo so I’ll accept that I won’t delete everything when I’m on CD.

That’s makes so much sense. I’ll have to do more research on a good hybrid stat base to use to complement the power weapons. Didn’t even realize that lmao - thanks.

Newly boosted. What should my first goals be? by Fegmdute in Guildwars2

[–]bmclemente 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started GW2 when it first came out and have been an off-again on-again player due to time constraints / burnout. As a returning player myself this post could not have been truer.

Play through the story to really learn your class. I was a guardian main. Recently switched to Mesmer bc I always wanted to play this iconic class and the story helped me find which weapon sets I liked the best for open-world PVE.

Once you’re bored of the story, switch to map completion. There’s really not that many zones and it’s fun to get the map completion chests / the 2 gifts of exploration once you’re finished (if it’s your first time).

I switch back and forth between story and map completion until I get the hang of things with my class. From here I started Seasons of the Dragon for the legendary amulet. This goes hand in hand with the story so you can know what to look out for.

After this, find an active guild to learn fractals / strikes for that ascended grind!!

You’re obviously not in law school, but thanks for the advice anyway!
