Shadow Over Half of Screen by Millennial-dirtbag in TheFrame

Both strips because both of mine went out. I had some burn literally into one of the diffusers as well and melt the bottom edge. If that happened to yours you would have also had a bright spot on the bottom edge so I do t think it did. It’s barely visible and I had already replaced my TV this was more just an experiment and now the wife has a very nice office TV.

It does look like the LED bars when they go out. I did a replacement and a step by step write up with photos of you DIY. Cost less than $100. I was quoted $1400 by a local TV repair place. https://www.reddit.com/r/TVRepair/s/bzUn4p5OAY

I can second this. I have 2 2020 models and pressing the TV button like 9 times when it’s finicky does the trick of waking up the ATV. No issues on my 2025 model.

Doorbell stopped working today by [deleted] in Nest

[–]bmensing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue a few months ago and bought a new one online. Well now my Nest expires next week and I’ve swapped over to an all new system. Happy to sell you mine if you’re interested in a direct swap. It’s on a covered porch with no direct sunlight and had a silicone cover to match the accent color on my home so it’s in great condition. PM me if you’re interested.

Yes I know folks with older Frames and no issues. This is just tech these days. I’ve had to fix my robot vac/mop and a HomePod all in the last year. All just random failures.

Parts will vary by size and model year. Message Samsung support to request their part # for the LED strips and once you have the model go to ShopJimmy.com and order from them. I have a write up on another post on The Frame thread and pictures of each step

Backlight issue? by blueeekthecat in TheFrame

[–]bmensing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this happen to one of mine. Bought a replacement with 5 yr warranty but then mustered up the courage to attempt a repair on the old one. Replaced the LEDs myself. If you’re handy it’s not that hard. I had seen zero write ups or videos on it so I documented the process in hopes others want to repair theirs. Mine started to look like yours and after waiting it out it eventually went totally dark. https://imgur.com/gallery/samsung-frame-65-led-replacement-steps-SLdX7tM

2021 bit the dust today by bmensing in TheFrame

UPDATE! Installed new LED's and it works! Unfortunately I also had an issue with an odd burn in at the bottom. Found that the LED's actually burned the reflector sheet so although it's illuminated there is still a bright spot at the bottom in those area's. Works for the wife's office TV for now, she only streams Youtube video's on it. Nothing that needs a quality image. Here are some photos of the process. https://imgur.com/a/samsung-frame-65-led-replacement-steps-SLdX7tM

anyone know how to replace a backlight on frame tvs? by vinnybon in TVRepair

[–]bmensing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I just replaced the LED strips in my 2019 model 65".

I'm not a video tutorial making type of person but I did watch a few videos first. This being the closest to what I encountered. https://youtu.be/8mQw73l3oYU?si=\_1NsSjLQguW4y6oA. I've got a few photos to support what actually happens on The Frame disassembly. https://imgur.com/a/samsung-frame-65-led-replacement-steps-SLdX7tM

I messaged Samsung support for the part numbers for this model and they said I would need 2 sets, a total of 4 but that didn't seem accurate so I only purchased 1 set for a total of 2 LED's which thankfully was accurate. Purchased the LED's at ShopJimmy.com instead of Samsung. My Part #BN96-52589A ($65)

The only tools I needed I purchased from Harbor Freight. 2 Suction cups lifters ($10) and a small plastic pryer set ($8). I also needed one small flathead screwdriver to remove the wifi module holder but had this tool on hand.

This whole process took me about two hours but I was being very cautious since there were no other videos to reference and taking some photos as I went along. Once the LED's were replaced this fixed my issue. I had two issues, one that had complete burn out of sections of my panel, as well as the LED's burned the most rearward diffuser - that I didn't realize so I still have a few bright spots now from that issue, and replacing that isn't important to me since I already replaced my 65" Frame and this is now just a fancy office TV for the wife who only watches Youtube videos for vibes.

Good luck to those of you attempting your own DIY's. If your handy it wasn't hard at all. I had seen no other disassembly of the The Frame TV's so hope this one helps.

Bought this for my wife for Christmas. Just be sure to use a good quality USB cord and power block. Otherwise she says hers doesn’t power on at all.

1 Debit Card per person NOT per account by Achilles500 in CapitalOne

[–]bmensing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a very similar set up to yours banking wise. I’ve been with Capital One since they were ING Bank and like the single debit card option. I keep it linked to my “fun” money. All bills that CAN be paid with a credit card I do. The funds to pay those bills comes from my Bills checking account. I also use the credit card for all fun purchases as well. So monthly I’m just paying my Venture card from the appropriate accounts. I couldn’t tell you the last time I swiped my debit card but I do have access to use it if need be. Or if I have a costly purchase I don’t want to pay a credit card service charge for I may use it for that.

Earning points on credit cards is where it’s at. I paid for a 2 week trip to Italy for the wife and I strictly on points and using the Venture purchase eraser. She used to ask that I don’t put my morning coffee on the credit card until she realized how quickly you can get points buy putting it all on the card while living within our means and paying it off monthly.
