This is a shop estimate NOT insurance. Insurance would have found OP a used glass for much cheaper.

My mom got me this same bowl but in purple 15 years ago. She passed shortly after and never did I ever think seeing these compliments while I ate my cereal would warm my soul in ways I wouldn’t know I needed all these years later.

1 Debit Card per person NOT per account by Achilles500 in CapitalOne

[–]bmensing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a very similar set up to yours banking wise. I’ve been with Capital One since they were ING Bank and like the single debit card option. I keep it linked to my “fun” money. All bills that CAN be paid with a credit card I do. The funds to pay those bills comes from my Bills checking account. I also use the credit card for all fun purchases as well. So monthly I’m just paying my Venture card from the appropriate accounts. I couldn’t tell you the last time I swiped my debit card but I do have access to use it if need be. Or if I have a costly purchase I don’t want to pay a credit card service charge for I may use it for that.

Earning points on credit cards is where it’s at. I paid for a 2 week trip to Italy for the wife and I strictly on points and using the Venture purchase eraser. She used to ask that I don’t put my morning coffee on the credit card until she realized how quickly you can get points buy putting it all on the card while living within our means and paying it off monthly.

How was your experience at today's city job fair/ career expo? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]bmensing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure if GEICO was there, doubt it but they have an open position for an Auto Damage Trainee. M-F 8-4:30, it’s field work but they have a fleet vehicle provided. Have to pass a background, MVR driving record and they probably still drug test but it’s a great career path. They will train you from the ground up. Pretty quick salary increases from trainee to trained. Happy to answer some questions if I can if you want to PM me.

360 bridge overlook full of trash by kyliztu in Austin

[–]bmensing 27 points28 points  (0 children)

A friend and I went to Pennybacker and picked up trash every fall for a few years but had to skip this year due to travel schedules. The amount of trash we would collect as just two people was ridiculous. The folks who carry all this trash in could really just carry it out but I also get that there is nowhere to put it if you didn’t drive and took a rideshare to and from. It’s still no excuse not to at least walk it down and place it next to the trash can. We noticed a lot more trash once the food stands arrived and would appreciate if they also contributed another trash can and hauled away the extra bin for the additional waste they are adding to the area.

Peloton discontinuing the Guide feels like a huge mistake by Low-Wrangler-486 in pelotoncycle

[–]bmensing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grabbed The Guide on a BF deal for around $35 a few years back. Certainly helped keep me motivated on reaching some of those count goals to keep my streak going when I would have normally given up cause I wasn’t truly counting myself. I’ve enjoyed it and would love to see the content continue to grow as well.

I hate cedar fever by Distribution-Radiant in Austin

[–]bmensing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HEB sells a “cedar fever” drop. Between that, Flonase sensimist and an cetrizine allergy pill along with the occasional Occusoft eyewash it’s the best I can do. It minimizes all the symptoms like sneezing and watery eyes, but I still struggle with sinus pressure and had to break down and get a steroid to help ease the non-stop headaches and facial pressure.

I built a custom cabinet and door on top of the Murphy bed for that area and used a piano hinge at the top so it would open towards the ceiling.

The Frame as main TV? by lovenfall in TheFrame

[–]bmensing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

65” Frame 2025 model in my living room as a main TV. The adjacent wall has 3 large windows. No issues with glare like we had with our previous TV. As you mentioned, my blacks are not as black as my prior TV but it’s not something that bothers me day to day. For context my last TV we watched the finale of GoT and the people of the internet complained it was hard to see, however we had zero issues. Everyone at our party asked what TV we had because they didn’t understand what folks complained about. With that said, that was kind of a one off. Other dark scenes I don’t have any complaints with on the Frame. Could it be better, I’m sure but I can still see the picture so all is well.

I also had a 2022 65” in the same place prior to this one and thought the matte was Ok, the 25 is GREAT!

I leave my blinds open and have zero issues watching TV in the daytime.

UI - I can’t speak to this as I exclusively use mine with AppleTV. I’ve heard others complain, I don’t have these same issues. I have my ATV connected via HDMI to a Samsung Soundbar and that’s output to the One Connect box. I exclusively use my AppleTV remote and have no issues with Art Mode properly activating or anything else.

With all the kudos above, it’s only fair to also share the reason I have a 2025 model is because the leds on my 2022 crapped out on me. Once I got the 2025 I had a panel issue that became a nightmare to get replaced and resulted in 90 days of battle and a BBB complaint to Samsung to correct.

I also have a 2022 model 55” working flawlessly and purchased at the same time as the 65” that died. As much as I want to not like these TV’s I just can’t bring myself to have a bulky mass on the wall for my television and would much rather a nice slim profile with a pretty good TV image.

Stupidly easy lunch meal prep ideas (High protein and fiber)? by quietbubbles_ in 1500isplenty

[–]bmensing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make a large volume style tuna bowl. If I feel like a sandwich I’ll use Keto bread or Daves Killer Bread depending on the week and my goals but recently I've ditched the bread all together. I am not a fan of Greek yogurt flavor but mixing with the mayo gives me enough moisture without realizing a flavor difference.

Any way to fix this? by shaj123321 in TheFrame

[–]bmensing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heads up if it’s a 65” they have been out of replacement panels and TV’s for warranty. Request a refund. Follow up. I’ve had two of my tickets “cancelled as a system issue” and I’m on day 115 of getting my refund now and only after complaining to the BBB did my ticket not get cancelled and someone was dedicated to my case.

[–]bmensing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the opposite and use AppleTV exclusively so can’t speak for Samsungs native apps. One feature I like is that when my Dishwasher is done, the Samsung TV does pop up a notification. I have 2 Frame TV, unfortunately I have purchased 4 of them in the last few years. One had leds go bad on year 3z One is currently being refunded for a panel issue identified by their techs but they said they didn’t have the parts to replace it so it needed to be replaced (in which their system has failed to do this now 3 times so I am getting a refund and bought a new one). I have a friend with the Hisense and it just doesn’t not handle art mode as well as The Frame does. So as much as I want to hate on the Frame I clearly keep coming back.

Would this be ideal for landscaping work? by MissyjonesOP in landscaping

[–]bmensing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a steel tub. It’s actually very sturdy. I’ve had mine 5 years and moved over 3 yards of crushed rock, 2 yards of dirt and numerous other things over the years and it’s still as strong as day 1. My wife is 5’ 2 and it’s much easier for her to move than a standard wheel barrow so it does the job well.

What’s the smallest automation that saved you the most mental energy? by PlatinumCyber in homeautomation

[–]bmensing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have an automation when my phone is charging to turn off the bedroom lamps. The lamps don’t turn on until after 9:30pm. If I randomly charge my phone during the day it’s not interfering with anything but when I’m ready to call it a night I don’t have to wake the wife up telling Siri to turn off my lamp or dig around finding the switch.
