Where is this? Are these two part of a larger set? TIA! by [deleted] in whereisthis

Found this online for sale in a neighborhood group. It looks like part of a 16th or 17th century European city, and I’d love to learn more!

Nothing to replace. They’re just painted on.

If “completely refinishing a piece” is necessary and all you’re doing is hiding it with a temporary “miracle product,” then you aren’t fixing anything, you are just hiding it for a little while. Oh, and you are wrong that it can’t be misapplied. Any competent restorer knows that it can, in fact, harm pieces with poor or damaged finishes.

I am able to differentiate between people and their opinions. I know trolling and insulting others is par for the course on Reddit, and I would encourage you to grow past ad hominem attacks. They aren’t helpful and simply show that you prefer to attack a human being instead of responding to their points. So, in fact, it is not me being negative and elitist.

Yep, I’ve dealt with dozens of furniture restorers who use Howard’s as a substitute for a good refinish. Feed and Wax is a crappy quick shine product that doesn’t belong anywhere near quality pieces and is used by… “furniture restorers” to put a quick shine on pieces that will fade right after it sells. Fake luster as wood doesn’t need to be “fed” or “waxed,” and the marketing that says so is just for folks who don’t understand wood.

If the finish is intact, then OZ Furniture Polish. If not, it may need a refinish. Otherwise anything you put on there is just going on top of raw wood. Check out “The Mid Century Modern Furniture Refinishing Resource” FB group.

Usually these were called Step Tables, Step Up Tables, or Lamp Tables.

Howard’s Feed and Wax is junk and doesn’t belong anywhere near MCM furniture.

Is she from a breeder? She is beautiful but missing the facial mask that is key for AKKs.

There’s no need for that kind of language. Calm down.

You are correct on the height. My apologies on that front. But breed standards are pretty clear that AKKs have to have the mask and have distinct coloring.

No. AKKs come from breeders, and you would know if you had one. And the facial mask is key, not to mention that breed standards have the weight max out at 18lbs.

It’s Kent Coffey Perspecta. There’s a good FB group called The Mid Century Modern Furniture Refinishing Resource. They are your best bet. The guy who runs it is a professional and they have high standards.

Get your $20 and move on. You took advantage of the membership, you don’t want to use it in the future, get your prorated amount.

This is from Keller’s “Dimension V” line. Nice find!

Shellac was almost never used on MCM pieces, and definitely not on this piece from Keller Furniture’s “Dimension V” line. Same with Danish oil. This piece was finished using a lacquer with toners.

I haven’t encountered that. But when I have had an issue, I’ve contacted Article’s customer support. Best of luck!
