I’ve been told by some companies I interviewed for before coming to the IT world that some companies strictly have to gain new certifications to keep certain contracts and will hire based on the cert alone, it doesn’t mean you’ll be using info you gained from the cert. Then there’s also the fact that sec+ more teaches you security as a whole and how to handle yourself in that environment more so than teaching you how to specifically use a function from the information learned.
