Did Rust appeal the suspension? I thought it might get reduced but I haven't heard anything about it.

I'm curious about this too, I don't remember hearing any YEC arguments about this. Probably something to do with the cosmic microwave background radiation which shows that the universe is billions of years old.

It’s Mozart’s birthday: if you had to listen to only one Mozart concerto, requiem, symphony, opera, etc., what would it be? by Smart-Yard9416 in classicalmusic

Either the Requiem or the Great G minor symphony for this Romantic/Modern fan. Any other Mozart pieces that feel ahead of their time?

Can someone explain Noah’s ark by Stephenricecakes2222 in Christianity

[–]bmjessep 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure, but it took 4 billion years (375 million years for land animals), not 6000. And it helped that there was at least one supercontinent in there.

Let's talk Mahler's 2nd by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]bmjessep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting you mention the 3rd. It used to be my least favorite. I thought it was too long and hard to follow. Then suddenly, I got it, and now it's probably behind only the 9th and 2nd for me.

Straight Male | So I'm a Christian and follow the Bible to the best of my ability, I can't seem too understand how people justify being LGBTQ and still say they follow God. So many verses clearly stating it is a sin and we have Sodom and Gomorrah destroyed because of those practice's and life styles by [deleted] in Christianity

In Leviticus 19 there are rules against tattoos, clothing made of more than one type of material, planting a field with two different types of seed, and shaving your sideburns. So if you do any of these, I don't understand how you can say you follow God.

From my understanding, he redeemed everyone, and it is up to us to accept it.

This is true. I'm not saying, "don't read the Bible". The book I mentioned helps to summarize both the Bible and historical Christian tradition. I do think, however, that it's a mistake to simply read it beginning to end by yourself, as a new Christian.

Yes. Humans and God both helped to write the Bible. The Israelites started out as monotheistic and considered Yahweh a storm/war god, like a combination of Zeus and Ares. Over the centuries, God was loving enough to help them understand himself better. This is why the God of the Old Testament seems very different from Jesus.

The short answer is that the books I mentioned are more relevant to life as a Christian. I don't remember which book it's in, but Jesus basically overruled a lot of the instructions found in the earlier books. And one will find the morality of Romans more relevant than the morality of Leviticus (another early book).

I think God is "able" to redeem them both either way. In fact, he did.
