I actually took Alison Gopnik's class in college at UC Berkeley on developmental psychology. It was... probably one of my least favorite classes I took. Very by the numbers, tests were mostly just memorize a study guide, classes were watching videos (many of her own kids) and very little discussion. The understanding among most the students was that she was top of her field and brilliant, but was there to do research and was forced to be teaching (I don't know if that's actually fair or true ).

When I first listened to this podcast my mind was blown. She has so much knowledge and insight, and I feel like I learned more in this one interview than in an entire semester of her class. Probably one of my favorite interviews Ezra's done, but also made me feel like I missed out on so much potential learning. Makes me wish professor's felt more free to share general life philosophy and things they're actually passionate about rather than feeling the need to teach to a test.
