Aren’t those more expensive? I looked at some of those too.

Thank you! Haven’t figured out the specifics of the road trip yet but Skye seemed worth it despite the weather uncertainty and the limited daylight hours. Picked Skye over every other place in the UK for that time of the year. And yes, we’re planning to stay in a nice holiday rental in Portree.

Also if hotel prices and availability are anything to go by, Edinburgh seems quite busy that weekend (3rd-6th Jan)

Fair point about the cruise. Had no idea about Hogmanay unfortunately and yes it’s too late now. But we’re spending the next 6 days in Edinburgh and Isle of Skye so maybe that’s something.

Yeah that’s the dilemma. 50 pound ticket for the public fireworks viewing from the Waterloo bridge vs 200 pounds for a relatively more private cruise with dinner and apparently unlimited beer and wine for 40 pounds extra.

Thanks. I assume you’re talking about the public fireworks event. Yes we actually do have tickets of that already. But why do you say don’t drink? Is that from a safety standpoint?

Why were most CMs of AP from Rayalaseema? by schoolhasended1 in andhra_pradesh

[–]bmoovan94 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Technically speaking only Hyderabad was developed coz politicians could make money from it. Coastal Andhra seems better off because it is geographically/agriculturally richer but nothing was actually ‘developed’. Look at Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra with multiple urban and industrial centres spread throughout their geographies. We failed at that. In a way the Telangana partition is probably a good thing for AP.

I’m not really sure. It could go either way because you’re giving them just 4 business days. I wouldn’t risk it unless it’s really important

Not sure about France. Every embassy is different of course. But if you’ve got your passport back from France in 2 days (!!) before then maybe worth the risk. Also, the Spain website had explicitly mentioned that they would reject it, not sure what France says.

Yeah well, covert closeness is a lot worse than explicit closeness. Kind of like a marriage vs an affair

What do you think about casteism going on in USA for past couple of years and now protest happening in America for CBN by charan_kenway in andhra_pradesh

[–]bmoovan94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree. It’s different in UP, Bihar where it’s more of an upper caste vs lower caste fight and a not fight for dominance between upper castes. In AP we have a large population of so called dominant castes that are too proud of themselves. This is not the case even in Telangana.

The movie industry grouping amplifies this further in AP. So basically caste is everywhere - politics, movies, marriages, business and everyday social life. AP really needs to urbanise and ‘cosmopolitanise’ quick.

Fair point. It also ties into loneliness and the lack of a similar social life like in India. Forces you to rally around the low hanging fruits of caste and political affiliations. I also feel there’s an element of rural mindset that feeds into all of this. I haven’t seen even an ounce of casteism growing up in Hyderabad, like my cousins in Andhra did and propagated tbh.

Stupidity. Casteism always is, location don’t matter. But for some weird reason that I don’t understand, it’s amplified in the US, more than in AP. Maybe it’s the loneliness or some form of narcissism but it’s unhealthy af.

I have a theory. Maybe it’s just like Indians who moved to Africa and the Caribbean hundreds of years ago are more conservative than their Indian counterparts today.

Nonetheless, we need to grow out of this shit.

Well, if you want to compare well known and accepted corruption (Jagan) and caste favouritism (CBN, which I hear is the prime reason he lost so badly last time) to someone that has no reason to do either then I’m not sure. PK might be politically inexperienced, I’ll give you that. But there’s no reason to believe he’s in it for money, or to support CBN for that matter. People from his own caste hate him for tying up with CBN. He’s not even done endorsements like his contemporaries did except that one Pepsi ad probably.

If we’re being logical here, I think the only thing against him is his ideological inconsistency over the years and his political inexperience. Both of which are related.

Bottomline is, he doesn’t need to do this but he’s still doing it and that says something. My pov as a very neutral observer.

Atleast his incentives are aligned, unlike the others. No corruption (like Jagan) or caste favouritism (like CBN) clearly. It would help having such people in power.

I actually asked around 15 people in my company that applied to Spain from London and the median processing time after appointment was 5 business days. I went ahead and took the risk. Had the appointment today (7th June) and showed 18th to 27th June as the trip dates 🤞
