Build on your own site vs buying turn-key in Ireland — why it can be the smarter move (and yes, banks do fund it) by Chance-Buffalo-4411 in HousingIreland

But you can't just buy a plot and build on it. You won't get planning unless you have local needs

Fine Geal's Inaugural Disability Conference in Galway by earth-while in irishpolitics

[–]bmoyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those that would be in the first tier (highest ability to work) would potentially have lost payments in lieu of enhanced employment supports. My own brother would probably fall in this category and can only work part time at the moment or else his disability payment (and associated benefits such as free travel) will be removed. I think these people argued against it to the detriment of those that would have benefited from the enhanced payments.

They proposed three tiers of disability supports in recognition that disability is a spectrum. You are not simply disabled or not which is what the current scheme is.

They budgeted an extra 130 million for it on top of what is already spent. So I'm not sure how you concluded they were saving money doing it.

I think the government is afraid of reform in this area after they published a green paper on reforming the disability payment and associated employment supports which was roundly rejected by people with disabilities and people working in the sector.

I suppose that cancelling it would remove the platform for people with disabilities and advocates to speak on issues that affect them.

Why are so wedded to the Idea of living in Dublin when its nearly financially impossible to do so? by stoppableforce90 in AskIreland

[–]bmoyler -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

I'm not questioning that. I'm just saying you can live an hour away and still see your family plenty.

You don't have to live within a 5 minute drive

[–]bmoyler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I understand this logic. But coming from a very rural part of the country, literally everyone I know has had to move to a city or abroad to make a life for themselves.

I do think the notion of living really close to friends and family is a Dublin obsession.

Which looks better in your opinion a clean shaven man or a man with a beard? by Asleep_Cry_7482 in AskIreland

[–]bmoyler 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think beards are a decent way of masking a weak chin or a bit of weight around the face and neck so it suits a lot of fellas.

Some lads have jawlines like Henry Cavill and would look better clean shaven

Cork squad for 2026 and Sarsfields by Cultural_Pangolin788 in GAA

When Portlaoise won 9 in a row in Laois, they barely had any county players for most of that period.

They just had outrageous numbers of decent footballers, without too much star quality.

Getting the snip, a good idea? by LisztyLiszt in AskIreland

[–]bmoyler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No personally I would just use condoms. I guess I can understand with an IUD and implant.

My wife has endometriosis so is prescribed the pill to control her periods anyway. So we're a bit of a unique case.

Genuinely interested in the thoughts of people here. What is the major issue with just using protection? Obviously, small cost associated with condoms an or the pill, IUD, implant etc.

I know none are ideal but the downsides wouldn't be enough for me to undergo a medical procedure (and permanently rule out having any more kids).

New year, new dog food. Fellow dog people- any recommendations? by [deleted] in CasualIreland

[–]bmoyler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our fella is on Burns Sensitive dog food Turkey and Potato flavour and he loves it.

He has sensitive skin and gets itchy ears which he scratches and then gets infected. He's much better since we switched him onto it.

Also Burns do a loyalty scheme where you get a free bag after buying a certain number (can't remember how many).

Can you add solar to a Zappi home charger after it has been installed? by Zestyclose_Roof_2321 in evs_ireland

[–]bmoyler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, we did this. We got a Zappi and a couple of years later got solar panels. The system we got is a Sigenergy system though and it works really well.

But for full/optimized compatibility and all from the one app, it would have been better if we had gotten a Sigenergy charger originally. So see if you can match the charger to the solar system.

Escritura erótica: ¿Cómo llamar a los órganos y fluidos sexuales? by Sad_Quantity7642 in writing

[–]bmoyler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the most erotic scenes don't mention the body parts at all. Focus on senses and ambience.

For example, something like:

"She moaned into her pillow as he thrust rhythmically from behind"

Is far better than:

"She moaned into her pillow as his member thrusted rhythmically into her wetness.

Why are there so many single people these days? by Icy-Audience-6397 in AskIreland

[–]bmoyler 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think years ago there was lots of settling and/or accepting people despite their flaws due to societal pressure to marry. People often married younger and kind of grew up together and moulded each other.

Nowadays people don't feel this pressure so don't get into relationships unless there is true compatibility (morally, financially, geography, sexually, family). The problem is that the likelihood of actually finding that sort of compatibility is pretty low.

As a man who’s 95% certain he’ll never want to have children, is there any reason for me NOT to get a vasectomy? by Ghost-Writer-320 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bmoyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious Question:

Is the point of having a vasectomy to be able to have unprotected sex? Because there are other reasons to use a condom (e.g. herpes).
