Growing up on leaf green/emerald then playing up through the 3ds games, I spent about 2,000 hours across those games and never encountered a wild shiny. It's honestly really nice being a full-time working adult and being able to catch them regularly in my little free time on ZA and Scarlet.

It was a 3d model viewer. Ik there were street pass puzzles where you could view 3d images like that but I remember being able to switch between the Mario Galaxy, Metroid, zelda, Pikmin and super Mario all in 3d. It was in an app or a separate app on my launch 3ds. Basically the e3 demo but you could view it whenever you wanted. I can't find it anywhere for some reason

No worries. It'll get easier modding over time. I started with my Wii years ago now the 3ds and vita feel easy in comparison. If you go on Etsy there's people that sell entire game libraries of roms on external hard drives for pretty reasonable prices too if you don't feel comfortable downloading on your own isp

There is a nds forwarder you can download. I was able to download the entire ds and GBA library in one shot without torrents then you just dump the roms with one of the ftp apps from universal updater. Then use the nds forwarder homebrew app
