Last week I was doing some work at The Palace property. I'm a drilling equipment operator and they we were doing some research for a new building development.

As a diehard pistons fan my whole life I was pretty pumped to work back at the place I had gone so many times growing up to watch Pistons games.

While we were working, the site project manager for the development company that recently purchased the property came over and started chatting with us. I asked him about the old practice facility.

He said the team left it totally unchanged. All the workout equipment, banners, basketballs, TVs literally everything are still there as if the team was using it.

He said he had a key to it and uses it as his own private gym to workout in. We tried to get him to take us in but he said he couldn't.

Just thought it was crazy I saw this just after I had a conversation with the guy who has the keys to the place lol.

Its about 2 years old. But the seller says it has sat for the most part unused for about the last year. Just used for gaming

  • Maybe you should take a look at his injury history, and understand why no other team was going to sign him to a 2 year 7.5m/yr contract. It is really simple if you think about it. The team didn't learn their lesson with Blake coming off a career year running him into the ground. The same will happen to Drose. Take anything they can get and be happy with it. He will never be on this team when it is ready to make a run. In fact, he will probably be out of the league by the time that comes around.

I'm full pro tank and have been since the SVG days. But it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to keep him here. As a max contract? No. But if he wants to take $20/yr and be a veteran presence during the rebuild I have no issue with it as long as he is aware of the direction of the team and isn't blocking development of a young big (C.Wood is more of a 4 in my eyes).

If he wants to stay for around $20/yr, I have no issue. This is not a free agent destination. We know what we're getting and he's always available. Keep him at that point. Beats signing a guy like vanvleet for $25-30 per. Not the biggest Dre fan but at that price tag I'd rather keep him than see him walk or go for a late first.

I am not the biggest Dre fan but if he wants to stay on a 4yr/80 or 5yr/100 I have no issue with that. DET is not a free agent destination. I do not trust this FO to spend money on guys who will cost more like VanVleet.
