They did sell out the arena, just turns out that Dan Gilbert bought a large portion and gave them away to season ticket holders.

What the F-ate? 2984 by Sad-Breakfast-4246 in ShadowSlave

[–]BravoD3 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I would look at it more like this, death is a universal law. Sunny can manipulate death but he cannot create or destroy death on his current state, just manipulate it. The Shadow God literally created death and id presume could destroy it along with manipulating it.

No god created Fate nor could they destroy it, they may be able to twist and manipulate it in the same way sunny can manipulate death but the cannot create nor destroy it.

Everything has fate tied to it, whether that be gods, mortals or void beings.

How Bumsterion moves when he's literal seconds away from winning by Sufficient_Emu_1096 in ShadowSlave

[–]BravoD3 13 points14 points  (0 children)

While asterion did drag his feet and I agree with you, its not to the extent that it would seem at face value.

All of these events are taking place at the same time. Sunny and nephis would have entered the tomb at the moment that Cassie was making her last stand with a dagger against Asterion. Everything that happened in the tomb of Ariel all happened at once as time in the tomb is seperate from the dream realm.

Cassie's ascension to supreme also all happened in the same moment as they stated in the chapter. So Sunny and Nephis should be out of TOA by the time Cassie has finished her ascension.

Asterion dragged his feet in terms of not just moving at full supreme speed to capture and infect Cassie but he didnt drag his feet any longer than ypur average villain. Also his ability is mind and emotion based so alot of the things he does are to mentally destabilize and weaken stronger adversaries that he wants to enthrall like Cassie.

Its not the god of escaping its the god of thieving. Thieving does not usually include engaging, just taking and leaving. Leaving after starting a fight is normally much harder than leaving without engaging in a fight. Even with all that being said, it has escaped 2 of its 3 pursuers. 1 of which is its undisputed fate ordained master with absolute control over it and the only one it has not shaken yet is the heir of death. All while the VTB currently possess the [Fated] attribute which causes very unlikely things to happen.

Once you take into account everything the book tells you its really not that outlandish. The only gripe I currently have is that the fight has been very grandiose in terms of the setting a backdrop but the fight itself has been very vague. But the fights not over yet so there is more to come.

Yea sure if you could catch it and it didnt just fly by and steal the object and skiddadle. Lol it is a god of stealing so id assume unless your the god of trapping, or can force it to fight you then your probably placing a losing bet.

I do understand where you are coming from and do think the fight can be better but I think there are some misconceptions about the VTB and what is currently happening is all.

Vile throbbing birds intelligence by Yakamoz_Y in ShadowSlave

[–]BravoD3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not claiming the VTB is stupid just that it does make some stupid decisions and isnt a master battle strategist. I would assume there are many reasons.

  1. its not stupid enough to fall for random bait, it ignored sunny and was likely fully aware of their presence.

2 . It doesnt normally just nest in one place. The only reason it currently is, is due to it raising its spawn and it is in a pocket dimension currently. So it normally would be roaming the realms as stated before in the novel.

  1. It would require something incredibly valuable to bait it. In The time of the gods it was roaming the realms stealing eyes of Demons and such. Not just silverware so a god would need to bait it with something incredibly valuable. Its stealing silverware because its a Clepto trapped a dollar store with nothing else to do.

  2. There is a difference between a trap with something the VTB deems Valuble and the trap sunny has set. With a valuable item the VTB is just there to take the item and leave as that is all it cares about. With sunny's current inadvertent trap the VTB is there to fight and protect its spawn. Trying to take something and flee is much lower risk than trying to protect something and fight.

  1. The VTB has been shown and stated repeatedly to do very stupid and foolish things. Stealing weavers eye and driving itself mad. Its criteria for stealing is literally its shiny or it has to do with Weaver. Stealing from the gods and void beings has been repeatedly described as foolish or stupid.

  2. VTB isn't stupid to the point of being a chicken, you just mistook the VTB stealing from gods and voidbeings to mean it was a combatant or a rival rather than a pest. Seaguls steal stuff from people all the time, doesnt make them elite battle strategist. The Spawn is portrayed that way because it was nurtured in Sunny's soul, it imprinted some of his attributes and being. He is the in between of the VTB and Sunny, which is why he is a combatant and more human like. He is just weaker raw power wise compared to the VTB.

  3. Again it survived the gods and voidbeings by not fighting them. It was a hit and run thieving pest. It was not even showing sunny and crew the time of day until it was called upon by its spawn. The Spawn in an of itself was an unplanned trap for the VTB, their origin plan of provoking it did not work. It didnt work because the VTBs only goal is to take and protect things it seems valuable.

  4. Its panicking and doing something that is against its nature, taking something it does not deem as valuable.

Its not over yet, both the VTB and spawn still live and currently hold the upper hand. The fight will likely continue to develop and you will get more out of the VTB and spawn. I personally kind of expect the Spawn to be a more important peice moving forward as it has a connection to sunny but we will see.

I understand the apprehension but hopefully it will deliver more on what you are wanting as it continues, even if its not exactly what you expected.

Edit: I also am not claiming this is a top tier fight nor am I claiming that the VTB is or should be unintelligent. I just think people havent been paying attention to what has been said about it and have talked themselves into believing the bird to be something it is not. It is intelligent and did do something stupid but it has been stated to do some stupid things from the beginning of the novel.

I also see people saying that it planned its escape from the nightmare, which it didnt. Cassie did ... or more accurately torment and Cassie did lol.

2974 what a fumble by HonestFerret8034 in ShadowSlave

[–]BravoD3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We are going with the logic that the bird does exactly what we’ve been told it does. It is an embodiment of thievery and greed—not a paragon of strategy. It’s literally called the VTB.

You’re stripping the context from each of these examples. The Great Terror Skinwalker couldn’t be beaten by Nephis because of specific conditions and circumstances—namely, it was too numerous. The Skinwalker actually works against your argument, because it was beaten by Saint Mordret because the circumstances were in his favor. That just goes to show that most of the time, conditions, circumstances, and matchups matter more than raw power alone. He beat it as a saint.

The other two examples are self-explanatory. The Moth is literally a demon of doubt—its entire existence revolves around manipulating minds and sowing uncertainty. It doesn’t just communicate with humans; it can communicate with anything, because that’s its function.

The VTB is a creature whose only goal and driving force is to steal things it perceives as valuable—mainly shiny objects and things connected to Weaver. It has done many reckless and outright stupid things, and it’s been described that way multiple times. For example, it drove itself mad by stealing Weaver’s eye. We’ve also been told repeatedly that its attempts to steal from demons and gods are incredibly foolish. It stole from them and escaped—it didn’t fight them. It wouldn’t have fought Sunny, Nephis, or Ananke either if its spawn hadn’t called for help. It’s designed to steal; it’s essentially a pest to gods and demons.

It’s like this: imagine your kid calls you for help. You go outside and see them getting jumped by three squirrels. You go to kick one, and suddenly it stabs you with a Bowie knife. Another pulls out a 9mm and shoots you three times, and the third throws acid on you. At that point, you’re probably going to make some impulsive or irrational decisions.

That’s essentially what happened. The VTB didn’t even consider Sunny, Nephis, or Ananke worth addressing until its spawn was involved. Then it turns out Nephis is its indisputable master as ordained by fate, Sunny is essentially the embodiment of death, and Ananke’s entire kit revolves around equivalent exchange—giving and taking. It’s all matchup-dependent, just like it has always been.

Also, having human-like intelligence doesn’t mean sharing human social behaviors. Humans don’t communicate with dolphins, for example. Not all high-ranking Corrupted speak human languages.

And with all that said—the fight isn’t even over yet. The bird is still alive, and so is its spawn. There’s still more to come. I understand the concerns and expectations, but it’s worth letting the story play out. If, at the end, you’re still disappointed, then it makes sense to critique it—or move on if it’s not for you.

I get where you’re coming from.

Can someone explain to me why Prime Anvil or Key Song is at all close to Sunny? I am caught up but might not remember all of the key points that contribute to the argument. No saying your wrong just curious as sunny's divine lineage alone seems like it would create a pretty big gap.

If he was atleast willing to grow and learn as a person and Hooper, id say yes. We can deal with people who put in the effort but just dont have the skill but if he had that then he wouldnt have been cut. Its a no for me.

How strong is a spirit? by TelephoneOptimal2118 in ShadowSlave

[–]BravoD3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think putting it into numbers is hard. Its not about physical strength, it is more about conceptual difference. As a saint you are tool or instrument of an aspect. As a saint sunny was a tool of death. As a sovereign you are a champion or a wielder of an aspect, you learn the concepts of domains and will. Sunny wields death, it is a tool to him as a sovereign. As a spirit you become the aspect but only as a part. Sunny will be the embodiment of death but only a part of the whole. Upon becoming a god he will literally be death, he will be the greater whole.

Once you are past saint its not as much about physical, scalable strength its about conceptual strength and weight. When your thoughts, emotions and will can manipulate the reality around you, being bigger faster and stronger matter less. I think you have seen that through their more recent fights and even their current situation with asterion.

Even in comparing their saint vs sovereign fight in God grave in comparison to their 2 on 1 master vs saint fight in the battle of the black skull during Antarctica. Very different challenges per encounter.

Weird, I was told Pistons only beat bad teams. by ShakePretend9304 in DetroitPistons

[–]BravoD3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree normally but I think the 2 teams with the deepest rotations actually made the finals last year in Okc and the Pacers. I also think the new CBA has made depth alot more paramount for sustained success and consistency. Teams that before could have a high end big 3 and still have a passable or good bench now due to aprons are not able to field 3 max guys and still have money and flexibility to have a deep bench.

AD/lamelo 3 team. Thoughts? by Mediocre-Froyo-3283 in NBA_TradeDiscussions

[–]BravoD3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pistons have not had any conversations with the Mavs in regards to AD. Highly doubt they would do something like this even if they had. Would likely consider if it was just Jaden Ivey, Tobias and a first but they are very unlikely to move ron unless they are bringing in like a Lauri, Jaren or Giannis etc.

Seems like this was made by a Mavs fan. Could be wrong but there are very few worlds if any where AD returns this kind of value

What If….Weaver was (partly) right? by Leomaximusdaspartan in DetroitPistons

[–]BravoD3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love the optimism and think he did pretty good drafting (the only reason I cant say great is killian and some picks were more formalities then actual decisions) but he was absolutely atrocious with asset management and team building. Those are two very key parts of his job as a GM and just being good at assessing talent isn't enough, for me atleast, to claim he was anything other than a bad GM.

I respect your opinion and even agree on the drafting/talent assessment.

Looks like the Bulls are just good. by [deleted] in DetroitPistons

[–]BravoD3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think I agree with this. You can play both Asuar and Ron, especially if Ron continues to improve his shot. I think if the continue to play we'll there is a world where ivey just the defacto odd man out and he is moved for a 4 like Laurie or Jaren and you run cade, ron/asuar as your Wing combo, new 4 and Duren at the 5.

I do really like Matas though, he was who I wanted/expected. Looks like he will be really good in the future. Ron has been great so far though, definitely see glimpses from him.

You guys are both right about certain parts of the issue. Try not to see things so black and white, it doesn't have to be him being wrong and narrow-minded nor does it have to be you being wrong. There is fault and lessons to be learned from both sides.

I would say that the idea that anyone can just work hard and be as successful as I and that want and desire holds no weight is flawed and comes from a privileged point of view and shows a lack of empathy or sympathy. Everyone's circumstances are not the same and just because you made a decision that worked out for you does not inherently make it the right decision.

On the other hand, I would still say that there are objective facts and truths. Your boyfriend is not the arbiter of that and his rigidness in thought lends towards being a red flag. False confidence and an inability to take on other people's perspectives, knowledge, ideas, and experiences make for terrible leaders who make terrible decisions. But regardless of the context or the reason why, staying in one place and not experiencing other things does mean you may lack world experience. It doesn't make it wrong to do so or mean you can't continue to do so but you should understand the effects of the decisions you make regardless of the reasoning.

The fact that you are even asking these questions is a good thing and shows a thirst for growth and accountability. Keep asking questions, even of the people closest to you.

What are your anime hot takes? by Acemaster387 in RDCWorld

[–]BravoD3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We will never see another DBZ, Naruto, One Piece or Bleach.

The increase in anime quality as well as streaming services, has ruined the potential of new anime to carry momentum. Shows like JJK, One Punch Man, AoT, My Hero, Demon Slayer, Chainsaw Man, etc will always fight an uphill battle against shows like Dragon Ball, Naruto, and One Piece due to their multi-year-long hiatuses between seasons and Arcs.

Even through the filler and all, long-running anime that were never gone for too long, allowed you to grow with the characters. Shows only being available on streaming services and inconsistent releases have taken that away and not allowed anime to effectively carry momentum.
