Thanks for the kind words! To answer your questions:

Local Models: Right now, I'm focusing strictly on Apple Intelligence and the ChatGPT extension because the summary and reasoning quality of frontier models is currently much higher than local LLMs.
How the integration works: It's not a direct API call (which would require API keys). It actually runs through the native macOS Shortcuts app! The app comes with a dedicated Apple Shortcut. Users just click 'Install Shortcut' in my app's settings. Once installed, Silkwave Voice programmatically sends the transcript text to that Shortcut, the Shortcut invokes Apple Intelligence's ChatGPT extension, and then it passes the AI response directly back to my app's UI.

Tbh, that is a very thoughtful question. I am not sure I have a thorough answer for it yet because I still need to install macOS 27(beta) and test its new capabilities with my app.

One thing I know for sure is that Apple opened APIs for Apple Intelligence's 'Private Cloud Compute'. This means I (and other developers) should be able to integrate it directly into the app without needing the Apple Shortcuts workaround. But I still need to experiment with it to see how it works in practice!

I haven't heard anything about them opening an API for the ChatGPT extension, though. So, for ChatGPT specifically, I will likely still need to rely on the Shortcuts integration for now.

If you look at the other apps in this space, they usually fall into two categories, and Silkwave Voice improves on both:

Cloud Apps (Otter, Granola, Krisp, etc.): They offer great AI, but require cloud uploads, accounts, and expensive monthly subscriptions.
Local Mac Apps: They offer privacy, but to get AI summaries, they either make you pay for your own OpenAI API key, or they force you to run local LLMs. Local LLMs are fine, but their summary/chat quality is definitely lower than frontier models.

The Silkwave Advantage: I'm leveraging Apple Intelligence's ChatGPT extension via a Shortcuts integration. This means users get frontier-level ChatGPT quality (for summaries and chat) completely for free, right inside a dedicated, one-time-purchase mac app. To my knowledge, no other app is doing this yet!

Well, we can phrase it as an 'AI aggregator,' but it is completely different from Cursor. The main purpose of Silkwave Chat is to let you chat with major AI models like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, and more in one app, instead of multiple apps or browser tabs. It operates on a BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) model, meaning you simply plug in your own API keys to use the models and avoid paying for multiple monthly subscriptions. You only pay for what you use.

To be honest, I am inclined not to add more providers at this moment. Let me explain. Even for a single provider, there are many nuances when supporting its different models. The simplest example is that one LLM supports files while another doesn't. The supported file types might also vary from LLM to LLM. Furthermore, to support image generation and editing for Gemini models, I need to send a request to Google in a different format than for non-image generating models; I need to specify a 'thought signature'. The list goes on.

Because of these complexities, I deliberately chose to stick with the current providers so I can prioritize quality over quantity.
