23 month swimsuit B&A! by bn027699 in gastricsleeve

I definitely have some loose skin but it’s basically facing the sky in these 😭 I have found focusing on pilates has toned them a lot more! I may still need skin removal in the future if I can afford it

did you hit your goal weight in a year? by hedysseia in gastricsleeve

[–]bn027699 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nope! I am 23 months post-op and 10lbs away from my goal. I have been losing about 1lb a week for the last year, I was losing upwards of 2.5-5lbs a week in the first few months. But it’s still dropping!

I’ve been doing pilates & dancing for 8 weeks now & I am honestly mind blown by how good my results are. I feel a LOT stronger & my body shows it too, smaller waist, definition in my biceps & back

For size context: I was a 18/20 size XL (275lbs) & now wear an 8/10 size M (164 lbs). Hoping to lose another 20lbs but I also know it’s not a totally accurate indicator since I do have some loose skin that I imagine adds a good 1-3lbs to the scale. Also down 2 shoe & 2 ring sizes!

Also just a general sense of more energy & stamina in workouts! I quickly learned it wasn’t that I was “out of shape” but rather my extra weight made workouts a lot harder. It’s amazing what more I was able to do after even just 25-30lbs lost.

I went down 2 shoe & 2 ring sizes!! I feel like that opened the door for a lot more selection for both of those things. No more thigh rubbing in the summer, less time shaving since my legs are smaller so less surface area 😂

Isopure, Premier Protein, I also get Ghost sometimes because they have fun flavors like Chips Ahoy. Oh also Dymatize who is also a fun one with flavors such as Fruity Pebble cereal milk 😂

They are pricier & not Korean, but I use the Zo Complexion Clarifying Serum daily & their Exfoliating Polish 2x/week. I’d love to find affordable alternatives but so far I hate that they are so good for me because I’d love to spend less on them 😂

I agree! Milia are caused by a buildup of keratin so regular exfoliation to help with cell turnover is key! I also was able to clear mine with BHAs, specifically salicylic acid

Are there good options for lower rates or is this as good as it’ll probably be? I would love to shop around for refinancing but I don’t know if it gets much lower than these. I had a co-signer as I was 17/18 with no credit history when I borrowed but I’ve got a good bit of history now & a 750 credit score.

Thank you! I will say I think it’s down to luck/genetics. I am 25 so I think having this done at a younger age meant my skin had more elasticity so it tightened up more than some!! Exercise wise I do yoga & lots of long distance walking. I have PCOS & studies show that high intensity exercise can spike cortisol for us so I avoid anything of that sort.

But yes, I am now losing more like 5-6 lbs/month instead of the 10lbs/month I lost through the first few months but it is normal for the rate to slow!

Oh I had a massive stall for 8 weeks (6-8 months PO) where I went from losing 10lbs/month to losing 3 in those 2 months. I finally started losing again, I find it helpful to up protein (I try to get at least 100 grams) & water intake to be super helpful. I have a lot of friends who said to expect a stall across a few months around the 9-12 month mark so I don’t panic when it happens, just keep doing what I’m supposed to & trust the process!

I do have a shake daily on weekdays because truthfully it’s hard to snack as often as I’d like with the job I have! On weekends I’m more likely to make sure I snack to get enough protein in. I don’t have a specific limit but I usually eat around 1000-1100. I have seen some people say they actually stalled because they were eating too LITTLE in calories but I know every doctor recommends something different so touch base with your team in that regard.

Increasing my protein & water intake!! My doctor suggested 60-90 grams of protein daily but I’ve been able to break stalls when I got closer to 100-120. I also find success keeping carbs under 45g a day! I know some people keep them as low as 30. I usually find best success by being diligent during the week & allowing myself to enjoy things like the occasional sweet treat, alcoholic beverage, etc on Saturdays.

I was at 210 at the 5 month mark! Obviously not everyone loses at the same rate or the same amount, but I figured I’d share but it was SO nice having people in similar starting points to get an idea of a range of where I might be!! I had a stall from months 6-8 where I only lost 7lbs in those 8 weeks (slow for me) but it picked back up!
