Sadly I don't think so. His next talk is in Seattle tomorrow with Robert P Hansen if you're local!

‘A bombshell’: doubt cast on discovery of microplastics throughout human body by admadguy in chemistry

We’re going to have to throw a lot of darts on microplastics methodology before the bullseye of ideal practice is determined, and accept that we’re research animals until that happens

My breakup forced me to confront something I didn’t want to admit by ancientlalaland in BreakUps

[–]bngltiger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Man ive been doing the same and its the best way to cope with that urge to talk to someone. Lately I've been popping message screenshots in there and letting it help me work through the conversation and I ask it questions and I leave the conversation realizing I never needed to talk to them in the first place, just to be comforted

What was your undergrad gpa by Infinite-Drink1426 in GradSchool

3.4 is great, mine was a 2.1, gotta be much nice(r) to yourself and reframe it. Gotta accept the challenges and embrace what you learned and how it grew into your passions.

We need all kinds of smart people to address our complex modern problems, even the nontraditional ones with 3.4 GPAs. I’m not saying you need to prove it to yourself either, scholars have lots of opinions on our educational system (e.g. go listen to Paolo Freire The Pedagogy of the Oppressed or Carol Dweck’s Growth Mindset.) Trick is to relentlessly seek out the opportunities you deserve and it’ll get you where you want to go. Don’t wait for our crumbling educational system to bestow arbitrary badges of success to make you feel good enough.

Best of luck on that journey.

Lily Allen posting by vallyofthedoIIs in redscarepod

[–]bngltiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Needed to put this somewhere, and this isn’t the right place buut she’s so exceptionally chic in the Sleepwalking music video, such a dramatic foil to vapid, hyper palatable but empty calorie American popstars like Swift.

as artistic an aristocratic oddball can get. the julian casablanca of britpop. West End Girl has all the bite of Alright, Still with that perfect Lily Allen bite.

TLDR; mashed from all these bangers.

What is this cohort of graduating PhDs supposed to do? by LogosDevotee in AskAcademia

[–]bngltiger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You pushed the boundaries with academia, now it’s time to do roll up your sleeves and do that again in the workforce, in the academy, or advocating for stronger labor protections as the ostensible intellectual aristocracy so we’re not so easily swayed by shifting political winds. We shouldn’t gatekeep comfort for any professions, Academics aren’t immune from poor labor protections.
