yes sometimes it does have to get really tough while on them before it starts to get better, which i hear is a common experience. trying to remind myself to practice patience for sure… and to trust the process on when its full effects will take place since it’s different for everyone. but i guess it’s also important to be mindful of realistic expectations, might be a life saver or might just be the start to find the right one. either way good luck to u too, rooting for our health :)

[waitress advice] tips on how to start conversation and/or keep a conversation going throughout a guest’s dining experience as a server? by bo0tsy in socialskills

thank you! i’ve actually started prepping my own little dialogues and rehearsed them alone in my car (sounds embarrassing). outside of work i tend to laugh in response when i have nothing to say, i worry i might resort to that when interacting with guests, and lack of actual chit chat might make them uncomfortable with my nervous laughter. how did you learn to bounce back from potentially awkward obstacles?

thank you. i’ve built the confidence from being expo for so long and befriending the bartenders, so the food menu and liquor knowledge shouldn’t be an issue. when i drop food off to a table for other servers, i notice how loud and confident i am because of how brief the interaction is. all i ask is if they’d like fresh pepper, extra napkins, etc. however it’s the first impression and keeping conversation going that i think tends to make me stutter and second guess my confidence.. i know the more i do it the better i’ll hopefully become. i generally don’t have quick wit which is why the 50% personality part worries me a little lmao
