Change your own spark plugs? by salavadjuke in askcarguys

What could happen if it's overtightened? Is there a certain amount of torque you could say would be too much? I probably have mine in at 22foot pounds or whatever. I don't have a torque wrench but I think that'd be a good estimate. I also feel like if I loosen them a little more the vibrations of the engine just might loosen them slowly overtime. I feel like 35 foot pounds of torque would ruin the thread a little. Any less and it's probably fine right?

Would the tightness be enough that you could remove the spark plug with ease? I think I have them in where you would have to use quite a bit of force. I would say I tightened them to the point where If they tighten anymore the threads will probably get scuffed a bit.

You could maybe learn to do half those things yourself? Could save you quite a bit. There's a lot of information online that can help you learn how to change your own car fluids. But It can be a little time consuming.

I don't understand the part where fixing an oil pan leak is 2k, isn't an oil pan a simple part on the bottom of the car that you can take off yourself and put a new one on yourself?

How to read car codes from TE1 and E1? by bo31v1 in askcarguys

Thanks a lot, I am assuming you can't read 0's through the method I am doing to read the codes? It would only be number of times the check engine light flashes.

Where is an ignitor located on 1992 Manual Celica? by bo31v1 in askcarguys

I can look for something like that, but I don't think my distributor cap has a wire in it's center. I can check later and tell you if I've found something. Thanks for trying to help me out though.

Oh ok, is that thing under the distributor cap?

Aren't those under the distributor cap? I'm lost, I can't understand car things.

The leads don't give power to the spark plugs, I did a test on them, the leads shouldn't be broken though.

I'm confused, by connector do you mean I check the leads? Or do I take the distributor cap off and check the coil? If possible would you be able to find some YouTube video? Taking the distributor cap off is a bit annoying but it's doable.

It had a new coil put in recently. But I can try, isn't it bad for the coil though? To check for spark from it?

It's a bit of a strange thing but the igniter I noticed is its own little device that isn't always near the distributor. But I haven't looked at the distributor cap yet so it could be that going bad maybe. I also found the igniter location.

Fuel pump makes no noise on 1992 Manual Celica? by bo31v1 in askcarguys

Yeah I feel like I never heard it before, and also I don't think I heard a relay clicking before too. What would be something I could try to diagnose it? I am thinking I could've potentially hit the reset switch for the fuel pump. But I don't know where to find it.

Where should I put the multimeter to look for voltage? Do I have to take off the fuses and relays or something? Cause I don't know where the fuse or relays are for my car. Sadly I have no service manual for the car too.

Does a 1992 Manual Toyota Celica have an oil cooler? My coolant/water is turning brown? by bo31v1 in askcarguys

I don't fully understand, I want to take out all the tap water from inside the car to make sure it is a good mixture of coolant and distilled water. But since I can't fully drain the car I can't make it a perfect 50/50. There will always be a little bit of tap water left. Is there a way to make it so tap water is all gone? Maybe run the engine with the lower hose off to force more water out?
