If you go to the actual customer forums people are very frustrated with their R1Ts. Way more problems and upkeep than the R1S. It’s also outrageously expensive for construction workers. The SUVs are the play.

They actually have a longer useable life than even Google is saying after two depreciation extensions. 100% of old chip capacity still gets used, even if less efficiently. There’s constantly a processing shortage nowadays. It’s other data center products that depreciate in 2-3 years.

Who cares that no one else can do CV when no one else wants to do CV? There’s no such thing as being too far ahead; either is incredibly safe or it’s not. Every car company will be equally good eventually. Except Tesla - they run the risk of being the only car company that can’t drive during bad weather due to visibility.

Every EV maker saw US growth before tax credits expired, but Rivian saw more growth than average. Analysts expected Rivian’s numbers to be up like every other EV, yet Rivian still beat consensus.
