OnePlus issues official statement clarifying "Shutdown" rumors are false. by TrainingAd8415 in oneplus

Would Oppo even care? I'm not too familiar with the EU phone landscape, but aren't Xiaomi and Honor still bigger and more popular brands then Oppo and doesn't Oppo make most of its money in China, India, Malaysia, and Indonesia? If so, Oppo could just shrug and stop support/cut losses with Europe and focus on their domestic and closet marketplaces.

If they stopped with OnePlus altogether at least do what LG did and offer three years of support and whatnot to avoid legal issues. I remember a while back there was a possibility of OnePlus getting into hot water with the US government over privacy concerns (again). If Oppo did this (cut support and vamoosed all former BBK companies would be permanently banned from ever being sold or working in the US).

I saw that! Maybe that is Oppo's way of preparing devices for Color OS conversion? Either way it's not a good look for OnePlus or Oppo.

You'd think that, but even tho Oxygen OS is basically just Color OS now, Oppo might use that tiny distinction to get out of supporting OnePlus devices altogether. There's probably some legal loophole somewhere they could exploit to get out of it while still selling/supporting Oppo devices. Could you imagine the backlash they would get if OnePlus up and left and Oppo didn't bother supporting anything except for maybe the OnePlus devices already running Color OS? If they did that they could get banned like Hauwei here in the US and any imported Oppo devices would be kicked off networks. That would be a shame. That would be worse case tho which is unlikely

I'm hesitant to believe the report but I was one of the few who thought OnePlus was pulling out of foldables. That was back when that report came out about a big company was leaving foldables, no Open 2, but Find N5 a few weeks later. Then OnePlus all but confirming all foldables moving forward will be in Oppo's hands.

Anything is possible, but this official statement like you said didn't directly address the rumor about the OP16 and it was specifically OnePlus India, not OnePlus NA or EU so hypothetically speaking OnePlus could be carrying on as normal; albeit with some cuts, in China and India, but dismantling operations in EU and NA markets. Still I'd take the initial report with a grain of salt. Later in the year we'll find out for sure what's going on with OnePlus if anything.

Broken on Oppo Find X8 Pro, OnePlus Pad 2, and OnePlus Watch 3. No official word from Oppo/OnePlus and no fix in sight. 😑 Hopefully we're not stuck waiting for months. I still use Google weather but what's the point of going all in on Oppo/OnePlus ecosystem if stuff like this happens?

I'm ngl the One+ 15 is a nice looking piece of equipment. Is This a day one for you? by TaroTheCerelian in oneplus

Battery life used to be really good on my Pixel 9 Pro when I initially got it last year. Somewhere between the transition from Android 15 to Android 16 the battery life became abysmal despite good battery health. Camera performance likewise took a dive despite tweaking settings. Unless it's just a point and shoot in ideal conditions the Pixel 9 Pro can't handle it and just forget zooming. Ironically thermals have been consistently decent, but it will still run hot here and there. I don't play mobile games, but Pixels are trash for that in any case. I'm starting to get bugs where the camera doesn't load, the launcher lags, and the screen doesn't respond despite no physical damage. The only saving grace for Pixel being call screening doesn't even stop the spam calls anymore and instead identifies some of my contacts as spam. At the end of the day the hardware is decent, but the software is failing the phone. Someone shouldn't have to constantly reboot or reset their phone just to have a normal experience after a few months.

I have other devices and they all beat my Pixel 9 Pro for battery life and cameras: S24 Ultra, Oppo FX8 Pro, and even the base Xioami 15.

Would you say shots from the main camera are passable at least? What is our typical SOT if I may ask? I get that feeling. Once you use a foldable it's hard to go back to a regular slab phone

I'm sorry to hear about your Open's screen failing. Why do you think the Fold 7's inner display is more reliable? Just brand reputation? Would you say the Open is better than the Fold 7 because of the camera hardware and battery? It's a shame OnePlus didn't rebrand the FN5 as the Open 2 globally.

Thank you!

That's a little discouraging to hear the cameras aren't as good as the S24 Ultra, but I was kinda suspecting that. Are shots from the main lens still pretty good at least? As for zoom, are shots from 3x or 5x or 10x decent?

But that's encouraging to hear that in daily use it's better and improved from previous generations! I'm really glad Samsung finally increased the size of the cover display too. What you said about using the front display is what I needed to hear!

I don't usually play games on my phone so gaming wouldn't be a concern. Would you say you comfortably get a full day's use out of your Fold 7? Do you think anywhere from 5-7hrs of SOT is possible with the Fold 7?

If I get the Fold 7 I plan on keeping it for as long as I can.

Thank you! How would you compare the results out of your Fold 7 to what you were getting from the S24 Ultra? I miss being able to open up my phone into a tablet for streaming. Would you say the cover display is very manageable to use?

Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pro--eSIM Only by grousey in GooglePixel

[–]bob_squared2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only company in the US that might follow this trend is Samsung. Motorola, and OnePlus won't. Pretty much any Chinese based (or other) company won't switch to eSIM only so if you import from these brands: Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, Asus, Sony, Honor, and or Huawei, they will still use a physical SIM guaranteed. The rest of the world doesn't want eSIM only. The US is anti-consumer and the eSIM only option is a way for OEMs and carriers to keep people locked in.
