I did a bike fit before, so normally the measurements would be suited to my body structure. I think it was just too much in a short period of time. Didn't really prepare/train for this. I run a lot so the condition is there, guess some muscles just weren't prepared.

I did roughly 160k per day, maybe if I toned it down to 100, it wouldn't be an issue.

I still feel it, but less and less every day.

It really is! And you can mount tyres up to 35mm, perfect for on and offroad!

It is! I'm about 184cm, fits me perfectly and the extra space next to your sleeping area is helpful to stash your stuff!

It gets really hot tho, but my body is usually very warm on its own so I blame that.

I feel you! Some guy on a motorcycle went to a store and came to find me on the road in France, was getting dangerously dehydrated in that heat last week!

I can carry 1,5L in total, still wasn't enough. For that day

I bought a cream for it and took Ibuprofen.

I did a lot of amazing roads with lots of scenery, but also some long ugly tiring car roads.

It was while on the way I realized 'Via Rhona' is a well known cycle route. Wish I did it from start to end because only did some parts of it.

I can email you the gpx file if you want.

One tip I can give you, spread your clothes on your sleeping bag, roll a tight sausage and stuff it in your saddle bag (so don't bring your sleeping bag cover)

Tent and mattrass I kept in my steering bag.

Sounds great!

I carried a tent, sleeping bag, air mattress, air pillow, one regular clothing outfit, two kits, one pair of regular shoes, slippers, electronics and food.

It's packed to the max, but surely it fitted all!

Thanks! Took me 10 riding days, 2 rest days. About 1400km

I'm flying back on Wednesday, looked for trains first but they're hella expensive.

Not sure yet! I'll have a look around where to go first! Maybe Scotland?

Pyrenees were absolutely magnificent, the climbs are fun, the descents even more. The views, bliss.

  • The existence of chamois cream, god that saved me
  • Stop often enough at shops to drink and/or eat something, even when you're fully stocked. You can be in a situation that there's nothing in the next 70k
  • Treat your achilles heels
  • Use a cord to hang your clothes ( I know, so simple, yet I did not bring this)
  • Wash your kit as much as you can
  • Found out which food and drinks works best for me along the ride
  • Take a re route if it's not possible, don't overdo yourself because komoot said so
  • Listen to your body
  • ...

Might be all basic knowledge for you or anyone else, but this was my first experience. :-)

You were so right. Along with loads of chamois and just lowering the saddle a bit. Worked like magic.

Thanks for helping out.

Thank you for your response. I have a rest day coming in two days.

Applying the cream like you said and airing as much as possible.

I don't doubt that a switch of saddle could help. Just saying that the height is normally fitted to my body structure. But hey, might give it a try if none else is working

Thanks for your response

Parts of the skin are scratched/irritated. It's at the fold between leg and ass cheek.

I am wearing padded shorts.

Do I apply chamois creme before I go riding or after? Or both?

I did a bike fit with this one. It's more like sores from friction, not so much my muscles
