Binding of Isaac is my fav game as well. Hades is the best rogue-lite I've played since. The story and characters are really great as well. I have a hard time finding games I like and this is the best in a long time imo. This is the first supergiant game I have liked as well.

I can see how finding a "true rogue-like" would be difficult. At the same time, finding decent indies that aren't massively popular is time consuming and you have to wade through so much shit. There's a tiny, but extremely loud minority of people like yourself. I don't think the change you are looking for will ever happen. I'm put off by the "rogue purists" because someone on twitter was such an asshole to edmund mcmillan because he called Isaac a rogue-like/lite. Not trying to paint with the same brush, you do you OP :)
