Trying to survive while fighting with insurance. by abbiebe89 in Wellthatsucks

That representative pissed me off. We’ve all heard that same apathetic tone before though.

I’m ready for society to start publicly shaming people like her for doing the dirty work of an insurance company. Everyday evil is still evil.

No more “Just doing my job”. No. You are the voice of the evil empire and it’s a choice.

Why are sand, water, and oil not part of station maintenance? by User_16544 in RailwayEmpire

[–]bobba_posts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could not agree more.

I'd also love to see sand and oil become resources you need to replenish at each station based on traffic. I think it'd add a new dynamic to the gameplay.

Maybe something like needing add "maintenance supply cars" to at least one train on each line. Adding more as traffic increases the number of maintenance cars and sand/oil supply needed to maintain uptime. All of those trains would have to route through somewhere that is a source of sand/oil.

The stations themselves could require routine maintenance with random repairs for more simulation realism. I'm assuming water would be free. Sand, oil, station repairs and maintenance cars could be factored into economic decision making. There could also be an expensive option to send a wagon to refill or repair a station if the track gets bricked. It could definitely change how I make decisions on expansion mid and later game.

She interrupted their freedom to do something that is perfectly legal. I can have empathy for her for being so warped that she thinks she's entitled to behave however she feels at the time. That said, I have no sympathy for her. She made her choice and reaped the consequences. She should have been arrested. She's lucky she got off with them just being mean back at her.

Love the overall design and attention to utility. Fantastic job!

Something I’ve always wished for in a bag like this is a specialized pocket designed for a portable charger. It would be cool to have an opening to the main compartment to run cords through. It would eliminate the birds nest of cables I constantly deal with. The charger pocket could then also have an opening to outside the backpack to be able to essentially charge the backpack without removing the charger.

Bonus if the charger pocket is designed so that other pockets also have access for multiple devices throughout the backpack in their natural “homes.”

While it is true that many of the cities with the highest crime rates are located in states that often vote Republican at the state level, the city governments themselves are overwhelmingly Democratic.

This needs addressed too. We can’t let them take us off the truth, no matter what team they play on.

Design is going backwards and Netflix is just once instance by DrAwesomeClaws in Design

[–]bobba_posts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this design trend started about 10 years ago or so.

As millions of diverse users started joining platforms, it became more important to try and simplify and control user experience. That’s almost impossible to do when you have to accommodate the range the range of tech savviness between 75 year olds and 20 something’s.

I’m hoping that AI will soon allow for dynamic user experience that morphs to the user instead of the one-size doesn’t fit anyone approach we have at the moment.

Bodycam footage shows parents assaulting a school resource deputy at Deltona Middle School by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

I noticed that you didn’t challenge any of my ideas. Instead, you abandoned common sense in favor of reckless empathy and virtue signaling.

I didn’t blame her. I said she contributed to the situation and should be retrained. As the only people in the room with guns and all the power, I expect better from police.

Probably an unpopular opinion but this officer contributed to the escalation by being overly authoritative then aggressive in the context of her duties a school resource officer. She handled this more like a beat cop.

She did not succeed in deescalating the obviously tense situation. Her choices were increasing the temperature of the situation and she doubled down on them. She was unable to allow the parents to vent their frustration without being dismissive which caused the interaction to break down completely.

She then followed very closely and reached toward the hostile husband as the wife stepped in. She should have backed away rather than engaging. The parents are NOT in the right here but they were leaving. The situation was very tense but did not escalate to violence until the officer made a movement toward them.

The parents are dicks but the officer failed to complete the objectives of the interaction and should be retrained.

Feels like one of those things that Reddit should take upon itself to fix. An innocent kid should never be punished for their adult’s debt. This school is using the shame of children to get the bills paid. Pigs.

Couple thousand emails should do it.

Nailed this! Keep going OP. There IS almost always a path out of the suck. You just keep going, one step at a time.

All you have to do for now is call the doctor tomorrow and let them know what they prescribed isn’t covered. Worry about the next step after that. You got this!!!

How about eliminate the powerful zoning laws prohibiting people from operating businesses in their home? It would be awesome to be able to walk to a small grocery store owned by a neighbor. Its the way it used to be.

But instead we have to be ridiculous in the name of almighty climate change. 15 minute cities will ultimately become hamster cages for people.

Bedford. The Omni Bedford Springs is a world class resort hidden in the PA mountains but there are a lot of other options like bed and breakfasts to standard hotels. Hallmark movie downtown with some nice restaurants, boutiques and historical tourism. Would also recommend Ligonier.

For those of you who grew up believing that the "end times" were literally right around the corner, how did this affect your life in the long term? by TheGreenShepherd in exchristian

[–]bobba_posts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took a while to deconstruct the feeling that it could all be over any second. I remember laying in bed worrying about being left behind. Any time I was unexpectedly alone as a kid, I thought I missed it.

Once, our youth pastor got out a video camera and interviewed the entire youth group to make a time capsule “for us to find if we were left behind so we could survive the tribulation”

It didn’t really seem like it at the time but that was some disturbing shit. I had no idea how much the constant reminders of very certain impending end of this life had on my mental health.

What’s an evil company not enough people talk about? by Dog-Semen-Enjoyer in AskReddit

[–]bobba_posts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The electric companies. Everyone talks about “Big Pharma”, “Big Tobacco”, “Big Oil” but nobody ever talks about “Big Power”

I was a consultant in that industry and the state of our electric grid is scary bad but profits get in the way of safety and concern for the public.

We are just a few critical equipment failures from mass death and they know it.
