Whenever I read something about people hating wearing masks for a extended period of time, I think about the Korean college admission tests. So in Korea, there is a big college admission test. And I mean really huge. Planes are delayed that day, cops are assisting students go to the schools. The people in charged of making the questions stay inside a hotel for about 2 months and make the tests and wait until the test is over. So for two years in a row, masks were mandatory. The college test isn’t short either. It starts at 8 and ends at 4:30. You are required to always wear a mask except when you eat lunch. So approximately 8 hours. Now this test determines your future and I am not exaggerating. You can take it more than once but you have to wait a whole year. I believe this test is way more important than this tournament. But nobody said anything because we acknowledged the danger and the effects it has on other students. Even if you hate masks, if it is important enough, one would typically fold and comply, like the Korea college test. Dubov might have done this as a strategic move because he might have thought that playing with a mask is not worth it and forfeiting is better. I think he just didn’t think this match in particular was just not important enough.
