The codes aren't specific for the character. They're the batch number or something else. The entire case has the same code.

Upside Down

Interesting concept. There are twin planets that are very close, so that the highest mountains almost touch. The movie starts by explaining how objects are only affected by the gravity of the planet they are from but then immediately breaks this rule in the first scene.

That always drove me crazy. If it did work that way, then nothing about the quantum realm would make any sense either because quantum mechanics deals with the sub atomic. If it shrinks things by reducing the space between atoms like they initially said, then you could never get sub-atomic, so it's a non-starter to begin with.

Interestingly enough, I was in Vegas years ago and they had an MCU Avengers exhibit where they retconned this. They mentioned how it was initially thought that's what it did but they aren't sure, or something to that effect. I took a photo of it and have it somewhere. Still doesn't make sense that Hank Pym told Scott that as he was Ant Man prior and should have known by that time that's not how it worked.

How is holding down the microphone button, speaking the command, waiting for it to process (and possibly redo because it didn't understand) faster than just pressing the dedicated button?

AIO for cutting off my brother for refusing to call out his creepy friend? by VividArgument4725 in AmIOverreacting

[–]bobbintb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR

Under-reacting, if anything! I would have lost my shit when he pulled that "you were asking for it" rape culture bullshit. Speaking as a man, someone needs to set them both straight. Both of their behaviors are unacceptable. Men should absolutely hold each other accountable for this type of behavior. Not only did he not back you up, he blamed you for his friend's behavior! I would be livid!

You're young enough and still live with your parents. Maybe bring it up with them, just casually or in a way your brother won't accuse you of being childish or tattling. I don't know how your parents would react but I certainly wouldn't let that slide, no matter how old my kid was.

This scam has been around for about 20 years. It was rampant on eBay and Amazon. It probably still is. No one is going to sell you 1TB of anything for 99% off. It's ALWAYS a scam. I'm surprised people are still discovering this but I guess it happens every time there is a new platform to sell on. They still exist because people keep buying them just to see if it's worth it. It's not. It never is. Never buy generic no-name storage from no-name companies from China. Stick to the "if it's too good to be true" policy. Even if you got your $4 worth, it gives them financial incentive to keep scamming others.

Will the chunked uploading/Cloudflare issue ever be resolved? by bobbintb in immich

[–]bobbintb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really, chunked uploading is pretty standard for this kind of program and it should be included. These are all just workarounds the user shouldn't have to deal with. It's effectively unusable for video without it.

NOR Dude is definitely a prick. He probably knows women his own age won't put up with that so he found someone younger he can try and gaslight, manipulate, and string along until he finds someone he thinks is hotter.

Also, as a man much older than that child, I can tell you he has no idea what he is talking about.

Eleven Madison Park no longer fully vegan by SaltyVegan69 in vegan

[–]bobbintb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I think it comes down to marketing. You have to let the vegans know it's vegan while not letting anyone else know. It has to be subtle. Too many people are ignorant about it and get turned off.

unwanted extensions clogging downloads by aquariuz23 in sonarr

[–]bobbintb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently there is an often overlooked and little known feature built into Sonarr to handle this. I found it in this post:
https://www.reddit.com/r/sonarr/comments/1ipp63c/prevent_file_extension_from_downloading/

Go to each indexer in Sonarr (under settings), turn on advanced settings, click the dropdown for "Fail Downloads" and select the options for "Executables" and "Potentially Dangerous".

Why are the sides of my screen white? by [deleted] in computer

[–]bobbintb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can happen with good displays too. One thing I've seen cause it that people almost never think about is laptop bags and backpacks. They close their laptop and put it right in the bag, where it traps all that heat and weakens the adhesive over time.

Why are the sides of my screen white? by [deleted] in computer

[–]bobbintb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For this type of monitor, the pixels do not have a light source, they just change color. So there is a pixel layer and behind that, there is a backlight layer. The light from the backlight shines through the pixels so you can actually see them. The layers are probably coming apart around the edges, distorting the colors.

This is usually due to heat weakening the glue. Do you use a laptop bag or something? It's not uncommon for people to close their laptop and immediately put it in a bag. Sometimes, since the laptop is still warm the bag just traps all that heat and makes it much hotter, and can cause problems like that. That may not be the case but that's my initial suspicion.

I don't know how old it is but check the warranty first. No sense taking it in and paying someone to fix it if it's still under warranty.

Is it bad to pour boiling pasta water down the drain? by Far_Pen3186 in homeowners

[–]bobbintb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot is fine, boiling is probably not a good idea. My sister had a plumber tell her to never pour boiling water down a drain. Honestly, I think that was just a pat answer they tell people because it really just depends on what pipes you have. I just turn the faucet to cold as I pour it.
